Comic-Con Swag Pack Theme Three: The Reader's Pack

HOOK ME UP! EXCLUSIVE CONTEST

As all my Hook Me Up! subscribers know, today's Pack is all about the books, baby! (And no, it's not about my character, though Reader does say he thinks this Pack is da bomb.) Coming in a humongous MythBusters Comic-Con bag, you're getting new books, old books, and not books.

This heavy-as-lead Pack (international entrants, beware -- this is gonna cost you to ship if you win, but it'll be worth it) contains: posters, some signed by the artist or author; three books donated to us from the San Diego Library, including "Three Cups of Tea" by Mortenson & Relin; a fun journal; postcards; Kingdom Keepers mousepad; bookmarks, including a signed bookmark from J.F. Lewis; signed comic books; three signed books from Jannifer Hoffman; buttons; other goodies including temporary True Blood tattoos; and the big kahuna, the ARC for the much lauded and anticipated "Matched" by Ally Condie. You can't get this book until November, but you can win it here, now!

This contest is for my Hook Me Up! subscribers only. (Oh, and yes, I really can tell. I really am verifying.) Not on Hook Me Up! yet? Really, now's the time. This kind of contest only comes around once, after all! So, send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and you'll be in! Do it fast, though. The contest only runs through Friday the 13th ('cause it amuses us...yes, we at Team Gini ARE easily amused, why do you ask?), and the rules will not necessarily be given out next week... So don't delay, sign up today!

ETA: I forgot to give y'all a question/starting point! My bad. While some have already jumped in, answer me this -- what will your winning this Pack do for authors everywhere, but especially authors in this Pack and moi, that's different from what any other aspirants might do?

Love,
Gini

Hmm, it's bad that I've never heard of any of these authors, right? And I don't want to hurt any authors feelings for typing that so will now head off to look up everything. *g*

This pack is my favorite and indeed the one I would love to win the most:).

I should be picked for this pack because it's The Reader's Pack and reading is a big part of who I am. My first part time job was a student worker at my college library, I actually collect book marks and make them into a kind of collage on my wall at work, I have enough books in my possesion to probably fill 10 book cases or more but alas I only have one book shelf.

My first full time and current job has me working at something I love. I'm a Library Assistant at a community college library. Finally, free books are always awesome and I would enjoy them thoroughly.

"So don't delay, act now, supplies are running out..." Sorry, that's what your last sentence made me think of. ^_^

My TBR pile is shaking as I read this, but I can ~always~ use more books! A large TBR piles is just a guarantee of future happiness.

So don't delay act now supplies are running out
Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow there may be a tomorrow
But if the offer is shun you might as well be walkin' on the sun

Hahaha Sorry Sylvia that's the first thing that jumped to my mind when I read your line!

Gini - there are comic books in there? Sweet, by best friend in the whole world is a HUGE fan of comic books....and I forgot his birthday back in July?

What would I do with this literary superpower? With great power comes great responsibility, and any freebies need to be blogged, Tweeted and FaceBooked so everyone knows the awesomeness of these authors!

Being a writer, I have to admit I'm equally excited over the free journal and cool books. :) Pre-emptive, hopeful squeeee!

I'd imagine that whoever is represented in this prize pack will see what publicity and advertising can do for an Author just through word of mouth. Every time the winner mentions her prize pack she'll be mentioning the wonderful hing from you and the other Authors and how nice you all are. :)

I don't have time to read. But that doesn't stop me from wanting this pack!

Gini, I promise you'll never know the difference between the mannequin dressed like me and myself when I shirk work to read a book. :D

I am drooling.
First, I shall read every book in the pack. Second I shall report on my favorites to anyone and everyone who can hear or read via all my social networks and blogs. Third, I shall consider them for additions to PPIF. Fourth, I shall at the very least include them in random acts of kindness by leaving a love note to a stranger inside and leaving the book behind in a public place to be found and hopefully read and passed on by a stranger.
I.E. Hotel lobby, airplane, doctor office waiting room, a kind receptionist, etc.

I love to get free books. If I win the authors will see their book recommended on my book blog http://mixedbookbag.blogspot.com. Then I will pass them on to my local library to be checked out. Just a added comment. I just arrived in Raleigh, NC to attend the North American Science Fiction Convention. Is anyone else on the Hook Me Up list here?

Just saying. I'd hate for my cousin Guido to have to come give you some love with his fists. :D I promised him the comic books and no one gets hurt. :D

Well, hmmm.

Well, for starters, I have a strong back so I can carry this heavy as lead pack into my home.

Then, I can have my son sit down and read the comic books, giving me time to dance around the house with the rest of the goodies in the bag.

Then I would call my sister and tell her that I was dancing around the house with a swag pack from Gini Koch!!!

Then, after sufficient time for her to call me names, I would graciously offer to share the swag. Or at least temporarily loan it to her! Depends on how bad the names are that she calls me! lol

See, I would go through that just to win!

Well since I love to tweet and give opinions I will most certainly be reading these lovely books and sporting my new True Blood Tattoo as I share with the Twitter World why these lovely books need to be purchased and read.

Besides my other ARC collection is getting lonely. So they will be in the company of friends.

@becky Bower -- I like your theory -- a reader should win but then again aren't we all readers? To that I say yes but some of us are a little bit more fanatical (said with a not me face - yeah right) than others so I think we should get bonus points!!! :)

August 5, 2010 at 3:46 PM
Anonymous Amber Scott said...

@Marnie I'm with you! Fanatics unite! Or slash each others tires and elbow our way through! Both work.

Blogger Becky B. @ Bibliognome said...

@Marnie, thanks yeah I'm pretty sure that a reading fanatic would want this pack the most but bonus points would also be pretty awesome :)

@mbreakfield, I agree with you because books are definitely my drug of choice and well they're expensive just like drugs probably are.

I can't say I'd be doing anything unique or all that amazing. All I know is that when I receive a free book from someone, especially when it's an author, I'll make sure to thank them upon receiving them. I review every book I read, and while I'm reading at the speed of snails right now, I'm doing my best. So, I link my review on twitter... also link to those reviews on my Blog Hop posts. I also post the review on goodreads, librarythings (maybe), and possibly a few others.

Also, if I don't plan on reading the book again, I'd be willing to give it away, hopefully getting the word out there about the book up for grabs.

In the case of swag, I try and circulate it around my circle of friends and family. Possibly word of mouth can result in this?

Oh geez! I was so excited at the thought of dancing around teasing my sister, that I didn't fully answer your question.

What me winning would do for authors...I live in a tiny little town without an actual bookstore. So, my sister and I share our books and introduce each other to new authors. I also lurk online and discover new authors by watching other peoples posts and such. So, by winning, I would get to expand my horizon of authors and introduce them to my sister, as well. Then we could both be buying more books onliine!

Blogger Becky B. @ Bibliognome said...

I agree with Lanae's comment about expanding your horizons by trying new authors, I'm sure that whoever wins this pack will indeed be doing that and in the process save some money on books. :)

Ooohhh - you had me at "Matched by Allie Condie" that is my on my "OMGI'vegottahavethisbook" list!

What will my winning do for authors everywhere? I'm not sure exactly, except give them hope that if one non-sci-fi reader has gone over to the dark side then there must be more like me out there!!!

I still want this swag pack because reading is awesome.

Here is a quote of mine about reading which I wrote when I was trying to get through my first periodicals purge of the back issues, "Periodicals perpetually proliferate periodically."

I will organize a sit in, sixties style! I will gather the fanatics and we will all sit in a grassy park holding hands with the Reader pack in the middle - all singing Aerosmith songs! The love and rock and roll will reach the ears of all passerbys and even the Heavens who will weep with joy and immediately send out cosmic assistants to retrieve the books and comics that we are all praising. There will be world peace and riches will rain down upon the authors...This is what will happen if I were to win this pack!

Wow Gini, you really scored some awesome stuff! I'm totally feeling this 'Reader' pack for me.

I would have to say that if I won this pack it would help me keep my sanity. lol I love to read and it seems like it would make me a very happy person. I think the authors in the pack, and yourself included, would appreciate a true lover of books to win this pack.
