Comic-Con Swag Packs of Bodacious Awesomeness Giveaway!
FOR HOOK ME UP! ONLY -- INTERNATIONAL CONTEST
I went to Comic-Con 2011, got to be on a panel with awesome authors, meet fans, act like a huge fangirl, and generally have a blast…and all you’re getting is…a chance to win a literal cornucopia of goodies! Contest is for Hook Me Up! subscribers only, is international in scope, and will run through Wednesday, August 17, 2011.
And Here Come the Packs…*
…cleverly named for actual Comic-Con events and attendees. ‘Cause we bring the full entertainment experience, baby!
The Hall H Swag Pack
The big cheese. Something from everything, including the most exclusive of exclusives: a Comic-Con keepsake program signed by me and every other author on my Speculative Fiction panel. No one else in the world will have this with these 8 autographs. There will be other signed goodies, including a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, posters, T-shirt, sunglasses, cap, line chair, books, and more. And when I say more, I MEAN more. This is the Swag Pack all others want to be when they grow up.
The Room 20 Swag Pack
Close to the Hall H, but featuring a focus on Covert Affairs, Psych and Ringer, along with signed goodies, including a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, posters, T-shirt, sunglasses, books, and more. And again, I MEAN more.
The Exhibit Hall Swag Pack
Posters, posters, and more posters, many signed, all cool. If it can curl up and fit into a mailing tube, it’s in here. Includes a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”). You’ll be able to wallpaper at least one room with the contents of this Pack, maybe your whole house.
The Mysterious Galaxy Swag Pack
This is the pack particularly loaded with books, sample chapters, other reading matter, as well as a sampling of other awesome Comic-Con stuff, and both an exclusive Jim Butcher/Dresden Files T-shirt and an exclusive Brenda Novak scarf (which I wanted to keep for myself BUT am handing over to this Pack’s winner because I’m a giver, me).
The Allen Gregory Swag Pack
Focused more on the little ones, this Pack features an exclusive Allan Gregory baseball cap, masks, and other coolness focused on the kids, and those of us who will remain kids forever. Includes a set of Alien Series posters, all signed by moi (yes, including a poster for “Alien Proliferation”), buttons, and all manner of other fun stuff.
The Val Kilmer Swag Pack
Val was a surprise attendee at the con this year, and what’s in this Pack will be a surprise, too. Trust me when I say that you’ll get signed stuff, cool stuff, and other stuff. This one goes to the contest entrant whose witty, urbane, and all around awesome smack talk on the Blog either makes me snort Coke through my nose or go “awww” the most often. Yes, this is the only pack chosen by moi instead of the Gods of Random.
By the way, when I say “Pack” I MEAN “PACK” and when I say “stuff” I mean “awesomeness”. Each winner will get an exclusive Comic-Con Swag Bag (some may get more than one) chosen at random by me, along with other Comic-Con firsts and exclusives. All the Bags are cool, most are huge, all were handled by moi and probably used to get swag home, so they’re REAL, baby! All the Bags are Comic-Con exclusives, too, making them bodaciously awesome.
How to Enter to Win:
1. Be a registered Hook Me Up! subscriber. (Not on? Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with “Hook Me Up!” in the subject line.)
2. Respond as instructed by the secret, Hook Me Up! messages that will go out from August 3rd through August 17th.
3. Cross the digits that you’re one of the winners selected by the Gods of Random!
*Some Packs will include swag from Thriller Fest and RWA Nationals.
Catch-22s, Gotchas, Legalese
Due to sheer weight and volume, international winners may be asked to help cover postage (depends on what you win and where you are). Therefore, if you reside outside the U.S. and you’re not willing to potentially share in postage costs, please don’t enter.
Swag Pack contents subject to change, based on what might not have made it home safely without being trashed. Packs also subject to being increased and/or doubled in availability, ‘cause I’m not kidding when I say I got a LOT of swag.
Contest runs from Wednesday, August 3rd through Wednesday, August 17th. This is an international contest -- as long as you’re on Planet Earth, have a deliverable address (no P.O. Boxes, please), and are a registered Hook Me Up! subscriber, you can enter and win. Winners will be announced in the week of August 22nd. Prizes may take 2-4 weeks to ship; it may take 6-8 weeks for international.
That's it! So, Hook Me Up! entrants, answer these questions three: Which Swag Pack do you most want to win and why, and if you were going to San Diego Comic-Con with me, what one thing would we HAVE to do?
Love,
Gini

We could talk about how Eureka got canceled after only five years....
@My5monkeys(julie) but I like big books and I cannot lie ;D
@Van lol no, I usually make my own conclusions from these docos but they *do* sometimes imply it, even if unconsciously so. And yes I've started watching Teen Wolf, don't know about the others and there's only so many shows one can keep up with while working and being a full time college student XD
@kiwi I like where your theory! Well the Sphinx is quite creative, but as we both agree on, they had out of this world assistance ;)
@Jesse naww thank you! come visit if you're ever in town :D
@ducknme LMAO the doctor. He may or may not have had a hand in it.
@Everyone I watch True Blood, Merlin, Big Bang Theory, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Game of Thrones, Being Human (US), and Suits (which I just saw last night, if lawyering is that fun I'd love it lol) are really the only shows I would say I keep up with religiously. I may have missed a few, give or take.
For ComicCon, may we fly in on jets? do you think the convention center would alow that? If now, I say we have a "Hot Guys That Can Rock This Suit Round-up" and then see which of them have the best tunes on their iPods. Those that pass get to hang with us and help train the chinchillas!!!! Hehehe
btw @ducknme, you make me laugh. so dark... so twisty... makes me wanna be your friend ;)
@ducknme: thanks! Also, I completely agree with you - except for me! (does that make sence?) I do hope that everyone wins something - as long as I do too!(sounds bitchy? too bad! I know you're all thinking the same thing.. :P lol)

I thought my post was deleted *facepalm*
----> question to everyone, what would be *your* choice of superpower??
If I had a super power I would wish for eidetic memory!!- most commonly known as photographic memory.
Yes it's a boring super power but it's something that a few people actually have lol if I was dreaming big it would be teleportation- oh that would be SWEET AS.
@ Camille - I've always had dreams about flying and would love that as a superpower, but I would need some kind of weak force-field too to keep bugs out of my teeth and eyes (ewww). That would be the superpower I'd want just for me. For other people and *insert heroic music here* the good of humanity, I'd want the ability to heal through touch. Except I'd never tell anyone I could do it. Could you imagine all the people who would camp out in front of your house if they knew? Then the flying would come in VERY handy.
@JeritheArtist - Well, I can guarentee I am not sunshine and roses, but you can be my friend if you can handle the fact that I don't want you to win *my* prize pack.
Btw, what kind of artist are you? I'm just curious.
@Jesse - Exactly! everone can win whatever, AFTER I win the good stuff!
@ Camille - Doctor who? OH! - Took me a minute!
@Batman - I didn't hear that Eureka got canceled! Darn! It's such a fun and silly show. I always tape it to watch when I have time :( And that means no more Colin Ferguson! Boo Hoo!
@Camilly - I saw a news article about eidetic memory. It is so cool! I think it would be a rocking super power. I have always thought being an empath would be great.
@Everyone - Who has been to DragonCon? I was just at AAD in Philly and someone told be that they are expecting over 30,000 people to attend DragonCon! I broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about it.
@camille --big books are always good
@everyone sucks about Eureka being cancelled.
Oh if you are on klout. I got klout about Comic con --thanks Gini.
we go do a kilt a con . Naughty girl laugh
@ Van Pham
I watch The Nine Lives of Chloe King :) I actually really like it. It's one of the first tv series I've gotten into in a while.
@ My 5 Monkeys
I've heard all of those shows are awesome but I always seem to miss them when they come on! lol
I'm so excited to see who wins! The suspense is so thick you could cut it with a knife in my room! lol!

@Everybody
Here's another haiku about what's happening today:
Library Chaos
Moving everything again
Is it Friday yet?
@ Jen B.
I've been to Dragon Con! I try to go every year but sometimes it's a bit difficult. But yea, they are expecting a lot of people. I think they said they broke 30,000 people last year that bought tickets but you don't have to have tickets to do some of the events and to walk around so there were probably more than that physically there!
I live in Atlanta so I try to make the rounds at all the cons but some of them are on the same weekends and I have to pick... which is totally not fair! lol!
@ Everyone
Does anyone else go to Dragon Con?
@ Camille and Jen B. - I know about eidetic memory, but not because I have it I've just always thought it would be nice to have, then my spelling would be a lot better. But my sister has "Streetlight Interference Syndrome". Not that she has ever caused a streetlight to go out, (that she knows of) but during times of high stress electronic devices stop working around her. it's freaky.
@ducknme you want to be a healer, how very heroic of you indeed! *insert Superman theme in particular*
and haha yes, Doctor Who? ;D
@JenB Empathy is overrated lol I say this because I'm too much of an empathic individual and it's draining- emotions are tiring, especially when they're not yours but you're 'feeling' it T_T
@My5Monkeys(julie) I have Klout :D as Envyious (which is my username practically everywhere, but some geek living in his mother's basement took it as their playstation username *shakes fist* NOT COOL doode)
Oh yes, big books are very sexy.
This comment has been removed by the author.
(ach it double posted, sorry!)
@My5Monkeys wait what- KILT CON?! WHERE????
@Becky I always enjoy your haikus lol I haven't written one in over 7 years LMAO
@Pink Panda would love to go to DragonCon but alas, saving up for ComicCon is hard enough seeing as I'm in Australia v_v
@DucknMe wow your sister is an x-man! That's seriously cool. I'm an empath as I said above, it sucks. Give me eidetic memory any day but then even remembering 'everything' has a pretty huge down side...
@DucknMe - I totally feel your sister's pain. Electronics hate me. Everyone says computer companies should hire me to break their products. Once, I broke 3 stores in one day! No joke, every store I entered and tried to make a purchase ended up having computer problems. By the last store, the whole entire store went offline. It's tough being a black hole!
@ Camille
If I had a super power I would want telekinetic powers! Making stuff fly through the air would be awesome! And technically I could move myself through the air! lol! But alas, the only power I have is ultra klutzy powers. I have bruises I don't even know where they came from! lol!
@ ducknme
My boyfriend makes electronics act weird too. But he doesn't have to be stressed. He just walks up to an electronic and they act funky. For instance, if he walks anywhere within 3 feet of a radio, it will stop working. It's really weird! lol! Other electronics act up around him too. Like the tv, and the ps3. We have no idea what to make of it. lol!
@Pink Panda nuh uh! I wear the queen of Klutz crown around here LOL but I'll share with you since I too have bruises from unknown incidents!
@ My Five Monkeys - I wanna go to a kilt con! Where/when is it?!
@ Jen B, Pink Panda, Camille - My sisters "power" can kick in any time, it just gets stronger during times of stress. Her hubs is in the Navy and she has been known to crash all three home computers, break the x-box and the stereo while he's gone. When shopping with her I've litterally stood between her and the cash register to get it to work. I love her dearly but I won't let her borrow my cell phone, she's that scary!
Speaking of superpowers I'll tell you which one I DON'T want. I would HATE to be able to read people's mind. I've got enough voices in my head without that!
@everybody,to answer the superpower question, I would definitely want to be able to teleport. Just imagine all the money and time that could be saved. :)
@batman
Thanks I could think of all but one.
Happy wednesday all and may the odds be in our favor for the SDCC packs
@ ducknme
That is pretty interesting! I wonder what would happen if you put two people like that near electronics...? I think the electronic would blow up lol!
And I am right there with you on not wanting to read peoples minds... You never know what's going on up there lol!
@ Everyone
I can't believe it's the last day! We will soon be finding out who won!!!
I would love to win the The Room 20 Swag Pack most, because Psych + Alien Posters + books = AWESOME.
At San Diego Comic-Con we would have to see everything and take tons of pictures 'cause I've never been to a convention like that before.
Hmmm.. the questions to the answers are as such..
1) The Allen Gregory Swag Pack
2) Cause I refuse to grow up!
3) paint smiley faces on the toenails of all the other panel members!! Cause that way when they are down, they will see the smile, and smile themselves. Smiles are always important. The second option, and a must do is to glue skittles to all the elevator buttons!
@camille KIlt con will happen in MI I think.
Hey Gini, sorry I didn't get over here sooner. Its been mass chaos in my life lately and as much as I wanted to snag a better chance at some con swag I didn't. And I love trash talking. Lol. Especially to bad girls who forget to grab ass for me or even get pictures. I am just saying.
"This is the Swag Pack all others want to be when they grow up." lol When will I learn NOT to read blog posts when I am drinking coffee. It ends in a not too sophisticated splutter and in extreme cases receiving the Hiemlich - not pretty.
But this sounds like the Mother of all Swag Packs :). *drools at the thought* It sounds so pretty...
Super excited for the swag give away but not nearly as excited of the release of the 2 new books; can't wait for December or April!!!
Ok here I go from my iPhone again, anything I say can and will probably be miscommunicated and or be poor in grammar. Just warning y'all.
@Becky that was my second power of choice! Not having to pay for transport be anywhere at the blink of an eye- it's super alright!!
@my5monkeys MI...T_T you guys get the awesome cons.
I can't wait to see who won and I want to still stalk at comic con
nathan Fillion and Burn Notice :)
I would most love to win Hall H, but I would never be greedy and ask for that one :) I would be thrilled with Room 20 and Val Kilmer (his swag pack would do nicely, too!)
Thank you for the chance at any of these awesome packages. You are amazing!
Thank you for having this awesome giveaway. All of the prizes are realy cool if I could have my pick I would want The Mysterious Galaxy Swag Pack .Keeping my fingers toes and eyes crossed hoping :)
No one read any of Gini's recent posts! They give important information that I don't want any of you to know. There are contests and such that I want all to myself. I just checked Were Vamps Romance and I still have a good chance of winning a signed book! I mean it. This is the last night for this contest... I just really want to win books and swag and stuff... Seriously, this has been totally fun. See you all back here soon or over at the forum.
@Jenb oh I read them I just haven't commented lol focusing all my energy on this one really LMAO
@Jen B. I'm with Camille. I don't want to talk about the other stuff, I might jinx this one!
"Which Swag Pack do you most want to win and why": Well, to be honest, any of them...they all sound pretty cool and fun! I love making "swag packs" when I go to conferences...when I was an Activity Director, we would make swag packs for our Leadership students (not as cool as yours...because we had to make many, mini-packs!)
"AND if you were going to San Diego Comic-Con with me, what one thing would we HAVE to do?" I think we would have to hang out in the exhibition area and look for doppelgangers of people we know (or wish we knew). At the last (not Comic-Con) conference I attended (and worked), I met a girl who was the spitting image of one of my younger sisters...well, except she wasn't 7 months pregnant...! We could make up fun "separated at birth" stories, or just make up stories...and then be amazed when some of them turn out to be true!
Thanks for doing this fun contest, and for making me smile when I read your Tweets (oh yeah, and thanks for replying to my Tweets, too...it's awesomely bodacious--had to get one in--to know that you are so active with your readers and friends)! May you randomly choose me (or someone who is just as deserving and awesome)!
I can't believe it's almost over! I'm really eager to see who wins! Even if I don't win, I'll be happy for everyone who does win! But don't get me wrong, I would be super happy if I did win. That would seriously make my entire year! THAT would be my most memorable thing of 2011! lol!
Oh, I can't wait! *falls over from anticipation*
When Shawnzeebaby said "May you randomly choose me (or someone who is just as deserving and awesome)!", (s)he ment ME!
Please gods of random , PICK ME!!! LOL
Good luck everyone!
Please gods of random! I would love to win something!
