Spacey (and Not Kevin) Update
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and we all survived Monday. As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, my weekend was great, and had a nice time with some Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing coming to visit at my signing at The Poisoned Pen. Special shout out to Alexa from Pages of Forbidden Love ( http://www.pages-of-forbidden-love.com/ ) for coming to see the me ON her birthday (and Johnny from PoFL was there, too, but it wasn't his birthday, so no special shout out for you, my man. ;-D)
There's lots going on, but first, an announcement. It's done, and it's in, and it has a pub date. No, no, not Alien vs. Alien, which was done and in and has had a pub date for quite some time (Dec. 4, 2012, pre-ordering now would not be considered too soon). Nor Alien in the House, which has a pub date (April 2013) but is not yet done and in. Nope, I'm talking about the second installment of my Martian Alliance series -- what started with The Royal Scam now continues in Three Card Monte! Yes! Yes, finally! Three Card Monte will release from Musa Publishing on October 5, 2012. And, yes, for those inquiring minds who want to know, this one is novella (versus novelette) length, so more story bang for your ever-lovin' crew of the Hummingbird buck.
As I'm sure many of you have noticed, there've been many updates and such to the website. For those of you wondering where your Sightings in the Wild are, I promise they are on the list. And for those of you who do spot the bookie wookies in the wild, please keep on sending your pics in. When Team Gini finally gets caught up, it'll all be beautiful, beautiful. Team Gini swears this will be sometime in our near future, but definitely after we've landed a cool SUV robot probe on Mars. (Okay, let's all just TOTALLY GEEK OUT ABOUT THE AWESOME OF THAT for a moment. Or two. Or more.)
In related NASA news, New Horizons is heading to Pluto. What will they find? I'm thinking they'll find that Pluto's really pissed about its demotion from Planet to Thing Floating Around in Space. But whoever's doing the New Horizons update is also calling Pluto a planet. Well and safely played, NASA. Well and safely played. Oh, and Team Gini CONFIRMS that Sightings in the Wild will be updated before New Horizons reaches Pluto. So we're good.
Some of you are patiently (or, not so patiently, depending) waiting to find out who won a copy of both The Night Beat by moi and Skein of Shadows by Marsheila Rockwell. So, without further delay, the winner is: STACY
NOTE: Stacy, you need to send me an email with your full name and email address by Friday, August 10, or the Gods of Random will demand a new sacrifice.
Are you a member of the Science Fiction Book Club? Do you want to have Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch (yes, moi) in hardback instead of or in addition to the trade paperback or ebook versions? Well, wait no longer! Alexander Outland is now part of the Science Fiction Book Club and is currently a member exclusive!
Next up, some reviews. See what I Smell Sheep thought of The Night Beat, then check out what Mixed Book Bag thought of Alien Diplomacy.
Next see what Calliope's Domain would choose as the top Fictional Worlds she'd love to live in.
In Person Reminder: I'll be at CopperCon over Labor Day Weekend, August 31 through September 3. It's a small, fun con, where you'll really get to meet the authors and other guests beyond just passing, so if you're in or near the Greater Phoenix Metro Area, come on by and spend a weekend with a lot of cool people, moi included.
That's it for today, but never fear, more's always on the way. So have a great day, and let's be readers out there!
Love,
Gini
