Hey there, Strangers!
I know, I know -- it's been, literally, ages since you've heard from me. And I feel badly about it. But life can really get you sometimes, and it definitely got me in 2017 and through the first few months of 2018, too.
BUT, I am doing my best to be back in terms of regular(ish) updates (I mean, how could I do worse than the slow decline in updates for the last two years, right?) and keeping all y'all in the loop.
With that in mind, let's get to lots of news both a little older and a little newer, and I'll give you the Quick Life Catch Up as well. So, read on MacDuffs...

Speaking of things that you might not know about... Meet Belle.
This is the book, and the character, that started it all for me in terms of writing, and the reason I kept on writing, and is the reason I have "Old West Expert" on my resume. This is the first in a series, by moi writing as A.E. Stanton, and it's only on audiobook from GraphicAudio. They say it's a movie in your mind, and they're not wrong! So check it out and enjoy the wild ride! |

So, I promised you more of a real catch up on what's been going on. So here 'tis.
Most of you know that we had to move from Hell's Orientation Area (aka Phoenix, AZ) to HotButReallyColdlanta (aka Atlanta, GA). Right after Thanksgiving. And right after I spent the better part of a month searching for a new home. But I found one, so, yay. And we made it across the country in one piece, so double yay. Turns out that a camper that can sleep 6 is plenty roomy enough for 2 humans, 3 large dogs, one small dog, and two cats. (Thank you, Cruise America, for making that possible. Expensive, but possible. And I learned I love driving your campers AND I'm good at it, which sort of terrified the hubs, making the trip that much better.)
We made it out here and before we'd been in Atlanta a week we got 6 inches of snow. Because of course. Never have we missed the desert so much. Right up until it rained. For days. And then we missed the desert even more.
Right after this, we had to say goodbye to the Spotted Fiend. She'd made it across the country in a rental camper like a champ (the less said about how the hubs and I did, with 4 freaked out dogs and 2 screaming cats, racing across the land in order to beat moving vans and car carriers to the Manse, the better), but she was on her last paws and we knew it. She got to see the Manse, expressed her dismay with snow and rain, rolled in the grass on a couple of dry days, and then headed off to reunite with The Big Fella, Neuroses the Swift, Couch Potato, Supermodel Supreme, Dementia Kitty, and the Little Prince of Purrsia in the big Pet Park in the Sky. We shall not see her like again. (Seriously. Never again. We loved her but Dalmatians are cray.)
All this happened after I was so very late with Aliens Abroad that we had to move the release date back. Hence why the "hey, the book's out, by the way" notification isn't nearly as late as it could be. Thankfully, DAW was, and is, understanding and supportive because 2017 really knocked me down and I had a heck of a time getting back up again.
But up again I finally am, and hoping to stay up, even if that's achieved by being propped up against a wall, so to speak. Atlanta is finally starting to feel a bit like home (thanks to the Wonderful Agent and author James Ray Tuck, Jr., in particular) and I just about have the Manse done exactly the way I want it. The last additional cat condo should arrive next week (hey, the Killer Kitties have NEEDS) and the Canine Death Squad love their gigantic backyard with their very own tonnage of trees to pee on! All their own! So the family is adjusting.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled updating... |

11 Comments:
Dad to hear about the pooch, I have a cat that was just diagnosed with cancer and he's only 11. **sigh**
If I had a camper or RV, I'd go on a road trip with my father and sister. My father because he used to have an RV and would know how to do everything and my sister because she's my favorite traveling companion. We have very similar interests and travel styles (go, go, go-do, do, do). Would take none of my 4 cats, it would be torture for them and us.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to you.
For my mad roadtrip, I'd take my parents, their dog, my two children, and our 4 dogs. That ought to make for a really wild and wonderful trip.
Thanks for the chance to win one of your books.
I do so love your books...of COURSE I have Aliens Abroad, have already read it 3 times, the 3rd being at the end of binge-reading the previous 15. Which has just ended. Thanks for the ideas of what to read next...I'm kinda lost, otherwise.
Hmmm who to take on a cross country road trip. I'd have to say my Pittie MJ cause she is my number one sidekick and travel companion, my sister because she is the snack provider/navigator and her pooch Pele so MJ has a playmate, Mercy Thompson from Patricia Briggs series for the snark factor and because it never hurts to have a mechanic/shapeshifter on a road trip, Kitty so that she can use her quick thinking and Purse O' Wonder to get us out of the inevitable speeding ticket(s) we'll receive if my sister is driving and for her kick ass playlist, and last but not least Loki, for eye candy, whitty conversation and a scapegoat when we all inevitably try to kill each other.
I’m so sorry for the loss of one of the Canine Death Squad, my heart goes out to you.
For my crazy RV road trip I think I would take along Jane Austen and Edgar Allan Poe just to listen to them converse and bicker with each other. I would also take my best friend Nancy so we can talk about all things Whovian and SciFi. I’d have my girl Erica, as well, runnin’ the tunes and keeping a good playlist going since we have the same taste in music from classic rock to fun fast talking female rap with ALL the swearing (it would keep road rage down LOL). And I would bring my Mum because she really hasn’t been on an actual road trip, you know the one were you stop and look at giant balls of string and the worlds largest potato. Hehehe this was a fun exercise in my imaginative brain-thingie. Thanks for a fun contest, G <3
Hola Gini!
For starters, Miss you like crazy!
Sorry to hear about the Spotted Fiend, I knew you said it was coming, but still sorry to hear it.
As for who I'd take with me on a cross country road trip, hmmm, that's a tough one. Well, I guess I better include Hal, (not that he'd realize I was gone for a few days, he's been fixated on writing this week...lol)
I'd include Steven Tyler, well, 'cause, it's freakin' Steven Tyler! I Think Nikola Tesla would also be a good pick, if we had trouble along the way, i'm sure he'd figure out just what to do, he'd probably want to take his pigeon girlfriend along too.
Tadanobu Asano, Jason Momoa and Johnny Depp, with all the interesting characters they've portrayed, I'd love to see them all on the big screen together, they'd have time to discuss a collaboration while on the trip. (Not to mention, such yummy eye candy to behold.)
One more person I'd add to the trip would be David Bowie, In his Labyrinth character, Jared.
Looks like it's getting a bit crowded, I think I'd better be considerate and leave Hal at home, to work on his writing, yeah, to be consirate. ;)
Glad to see you getting back in the swing of things, I know it's been tough!
As for a roadtrip...I'd bring my best friend, Ramona, because - hello! - best friend, but also because she's hilariously awkward at times, and also listening to us is like listening to the Bitchy Friends Sitcom. Having our other Heifer [we're the Heifer Herd] Jules along would round out the trio and also add a top-class cook and knower-of-all-adulting to the party.
Would I love to have Kitty along? Absolutely. But she's rather busy keeping the world - and galaxy and universe - together, so I'll permit the absence =P
So glad your settling in. I've been reading around real life, which now includes (for the next week) giving my hubby IV antibiotics for a very stubborn toe infection. And I am not an RN. And I like to sleep, this getting up every 6 hours isn't fun.
As for the road trip, Kitty is probably too busy. So I'll take My Bestie, Michelle and my Buddy, Marlee. I'd also include the Hubs, but it would have to be a special RV for his power chair. I'd want a cook (or a nice elf from another demension that caters) and a masseuse. And ALL our favorite books! Oops! That means we'll need a semi to follow us! Love You Girl!
Rats, hate typos, which I always see after I post. That should be Sad, not Dad.
Thor, Spiderman, Superman, Batman, couple friends because it'd be fun
bn100candg at hotmail dot com
So sorry for your loss.
For my RV trip I would take my hubby- he’s great on a road trip, I would love to take Tony Stark, Chuckie (need the smartest guy in the room), my best friends Theresa and Lisa and of course Kitty.
