Bringin' the Necropolis Blog Tour Home in Style

Happy Friday! As promised, it's the last day of the Necropolis Blog Tour, and yes, it's ending up right where it began -- here.

For those of you who've somehow missed all this (and I know there are those of you who have), here's what's been going on for the Necropolis Enforcement Blog Tour of 2012. If you haven’t read the first chapter of The Night Beat, hit Deathless Prose and check it out. Then, hit each stop along the way to get more of the story. Missed a stop? Go to Invasion of the Blog Tour and get caught up. And don’t forget to get entered to win a copy of The Night Beat at EVERY blog tour stop along the way! Plus, follow the Tour ‘til the end (um, right here) and get entered for a mega-prize! So, grab your badge -- it’s time to join Necropolis Enforcement!

The majority of Prosaic City’s residents don’t know that their town exists on top of another place -- Necropolis, City of the Undead. For the most part, the two planes of existence manage to remain separate. And when they don’t, Necropolis Enforcement has beings in place to ensure the general human population remains blithely clueless.
Victoria Wolfe is more than just a policewoman. She’s an undercover werewolf assigned by Necropolis Enforcement to work Prosaic City Police’s Night Beat. Victoria’s comfortable working the shift where all the weird comes out to play, especially since her partner is also her perfect man. Or would be, if Victoria could ever work up the nerve to tell him she isn’t like other girls.
It’s hard enough being a werewolf in disguise, but when a creature from the Depths of Hell shows up in an alley preferred by junkies, bums, and hookers, it’s going to take more than just Victoria’s special gun and werewolf skills to subdue the ancient Sumerian demon. Especially when the demon is merely the start of what appears to be a major takeover attempt by the Prince of Darkness.
Soon all of Necropolis Enforcement’s Undead Brigade is involved in the fight to stop the Prince’s Major Minions from taking over Prosaic City and the rest of the human plane. But it’s Victoria who has to face the Adversary and figure out what intricate plan Lucifer has up his wings before everyone she cares about is destroyed.
In other words, it’s just another day on the Night Beat.

Now, check out the last excerpt from The Night Beat. Then read on, because in not only is someone winning an electronic copy of The Night Beat, there's an even bigger (much, MUCH bigger) prize that's up for grabs as well!

In addition to the med staff, there was another being waiting for me. “Oh, no. Maurice, do something.”

Not a thing I can do to dislodge him, but I’ll stay with you into the hospital,” Maurice said in a low voice.
He was in full wolf form for no reason other than that he was a fanatic about it. I’d actually never seen him in human form and almost never in werewolf form, he was that committed to the rather ancient belief that werewolves were strongest in “natural animal form”. He bounded over, tail wagging, eyes serious, ears alert for any danger. “Vic, what happened? Are you going to be okay? Do you need a transfusion?”
     “Just got banged up, Ralph.”
“I’d better stick with you. Werewolves need to pack together.” He was serious. Ralph Rogers, Werewolf With a Cause. He was a big, good-looking wolf, but a weregirl could only take so much dork in her life and Ralph threatened to exceed my limit on a nightly basis.
“I think we can handle it, Ralphie,” Maurice said, as he pointedly swished by. Ralph and Maurice didn’t get along. At all.
The med personnel got their paws, claws and talons on me, and I got hustled into a medical bay. They tried to keep Ralph and Maurice out, but Ralph was loud and insistent and Maurice was willing to be nasty and they knew it, so ultimately, it was a intimate group of ten by the time I got onto a bed.
Ralph tried to get next to me. Maurice blocked him every time and made it look accidental. Really, a werewolf doesn’t stand a chance against a vampire, especially a smart and sneaky vampire, and there weren’t a lot of earnest and apple-cheeked ones out there.
“Ralph, I really think I’m okay. I didn’t lose any blood, all my limbs are attached, and I can feel my bones setting themselves. Shouldn’t you be out on patrol or something?”
“It’s my night off.” Ralph gave Maurice a dirty look. “Though I see I shouldn’t have taken it.”
“Ralph, it was an ancient Sumerian demon crossed with some sort of slime monster. Maurice gave it his all, just like the rest of us.”
“I note he’s not the one injured.” Ralph made this sound like Maurice had tossed me to Slimy and then run off screaming.
“I wasn’t the one who went on Mister Monster’s Wild Ride,” Maurice said haughtily. “I also wasn’t the one listening to the Enforcement Band Radio to be able to intercept the object of my unrequited affections the moment she returned on premises.”
Ralph growled, always impressive in a werewolf. The doctor in charge had enough. “All personnel who aren’t medically trained and part of my med team, out. Now. That particularly means you, Agent Rogers.”
Ralph bared his teeth, shot me an expectant look that turned to doggy-disappointment when I didn’t demand he stay so we could hold paws, heaved the big sigh, then turned tail and left. The tension in the room dropped.
Maurice winked at me. “I’ll ride herd on Mister Lovestruck. I can see why you want the human when this is your most likely alternate.”
     “I have options!”
“Uh huh. Let’s talk about why you and Ken didn’t work out, shall we?”
“Later,” the doctor snapped. “After she’s healed later.”
Maurice blew kisses to all and swished out after Ralph. The tension in the room went back to normal.
“How do you deal with them?” one of the nurses asked as they started the various tortures we called medical treatment.
“I tell myself it could always be worse.”
     “How?”
“I could be living and working with my parents.”

Wanna read it all? Then leave a comment here and get entered to win -- just tell me what were-animal you'd like to be and why.

One lucky winner will win an ecopy of The Night Beat. And one luckier winner will score the Blog Tour Grand Prize: a Howl with the Night Beat Totebag, which will be stuffed with:
--a signed, personalized copy of The Night Beat
--an I Heart Werewolves Night Beat T-Shirt (size L only)

Now how's that for winning with style?

Contest will run through Sunday, October 7th. Contest IS open internationally, for both ebook and Grand Prize.

OMG OMG OMG That prize pack is the thing dreams are made of! I'd love to win something like that :-)

It's so hard to pick just one were creature I'd like to be. I always quite fancied being one of the big cats like a jaguar or a tiger, all that feline grace & power! But then it would be pretty cool to be an eagle & be able to fly. I also love the pack connection & sense of family from the wolves (as long as I wasn't too far down in the pack hierarchy!)

Oh My God and it deserves not to be just text letters. Gee, necropolis and something and all those possibilities. I like the ones that are more eastern like Neko cat spirits or chimera of middle east. The were or shape change beasty that i consider the true shapechangers are Dragons. But since i am cat lover I would love to be like Siberian White Tiger with larger pads for snow and seasonal pelt color changes as some have. So Were Tiger, Were Panther or blend. or were sabertooth for just meaness.

I'd want to be a werepig of course!
Because pigs are the most awesome animals ever and because it would be cool to be a human once in a while and do all the stuff my owner says are not meant for piggies.

O wow, that is a grand prize indeed! Signed books are the best, and an ARC of Alien vs Alien, I so want one! Thanks Gini, for the chance to win.
I would love to be a were dragon. Fearsome, and almost impossible to kill. You can fly and breath fire, so your dinner is always cooked well.

Now THAT'S a grand prize!!!!!

Which werecreature? I'm wondering if I'm already a were-dragon. I'm usually quite happy at home, among my precious things, but then if someone tries to damage my calm or invade, then all hell breaks loose upon them. And I must be an oriental dragon, 'cause I'm getting chin hair which is NOT sexy, UNLESS you are an Oriental dragon (or a bear I guess). And some days I'd quite cheerfully snap the head off the nearest idiot and use their spine as a harmonica...

Failing actually being a were-dragon already (boo!) I'd be a were Irish Wolfhound because I've always wanted to be tall, slender, and have someone rub my tummy :)

That prize is my heaven. Seriously! sooooo good!

As for being a were-animal... Jeez. It's a hard one! I love so many animals and each animal has so many advantages! Like on the one hand being a bird would be awesome because you could fly, being a cat would be awesome because of the power and beauty, same with being a wolf. But, I think I'm going to go with were-unicorn. XD
Unicorns are magic, majestic, mythical, powerful and dipped in awesome. And, since no ones EXACTLY sure on what they can do, I'm hoping that I'd be able to fly as well. :P

Thank you so much for the contest!

wow what an awesome prize! I haven't been entering because I've already bought The Night Beat but wow I need to try for this :)

I really don't know what I'd like to be most. I've got a top three list but some sort of bird probably tops it. Being able to fly would be awesome. Second choice would be a wolf because, well because wolves are awesome. A lion would be cool too though because they are so stealthy and graceful, I trip up steps :)

Now this is an awesome grand prize. :)

Well I've been obsessed with mermaids ever since I saw the LITTLE MERMAID movie way back when (my parents say I even made up a song and sang it and the song I believe just consisted of singing Arie's name over and over)so I would be a were-mermaid.

I would choose to be a were-mermaid because it would be awesome and really like discovering a whole new world every time I swam. Also it would be a plus because maybe I could discover Atlantis or something. :)

Congratulations on the release of Night Beat and I certainly hope we get to see more of Victoria and the gang. I am going to go with something just a little different (for me) I saw the most awesome picture on FB of a black panther and oh what a beauty. I would love to be a beautiful werepanther. Thank you for the fun an a chance to win a super-duper prize. Heading off to spread the word so all my friends can join in the fun!

Oh wauw, that's a great giveaway! And international! I have to stop lurking to get that ;-)

I would love to be a werewolf. Partly because of my real last name and partly because they are my first paranormal love of werecreatures. But saying that, lately I'm very into dragons, so that would be my second choice.

My choice would be a were-hawk, or similar bird of prey. I completely agree with the other posters who say that cats are cool and beautiful, but the ability to fly tops everything else.

I would be a were honey-badger. After all, the creature is already immune to snake and insect bites. This way no bird or jackal would be able to sneak it's food and it would be totally bad-ass! (Check out the youtube video http://youtu.be/4r7wHMg5Y) (NSFW - language)
Already have an e-copy of Night Beat. Thank you for many happy LOL's.

Fabulous contest! Seriously, I want! But even more fun, what were-animal would I be? Easy. A were-snake. My husband is terrified of them (snakes that is, not were-snakes, though I imagine he would be if saw one, how would he know? Maybe he already has)He thinks he's Indiana Jones. Even has the hat... the right job too, but either way. Definitely were-snake, I do love to keep things exciting.

Gini, let my start off by saying thank you for your wonderfully written characters and stories. I can see them like a movie playing in my head.
As a member of a very large and very loud family, I'd have to choose wolf. No matter where you are in the hierarchy pack is pack. You stick together. Sure you fight amongst each other but when someone else invades your territory everyone fights together for the good of the pack. Sure you can live as a lone wolf, but life in a pack is so much more interesting.
Thanks,
Amy T.

Feline, for certain, because I have always been one or more cats' person. Maybe the original small, curious beast who first decided to take a chance on homo sapiens. With visions of flocks of human worshipers providing LOTS of food and petting glimmering in her green eyes, Her Grace the Ur Cat deigns to tag along with the human race and see how it works out:)

Just got a new book in, and there's a creature in it, a pukis, that's a human/cat/dragon were. However it's a small dragon, so easily fits into a house. Considering it just starting getting cold where I live, being able to fit into house is a plus.

Mmmm, were dragon, I could go there. I'm a dragon by year of birth and I've adored them since I was a cub.

I would love to be a were big cat like a panther, leopard or the awesomely aforementioned winged tiger (seriously, I wished I'd thought of that one!) however, I would probably be a were cat. Not like an exotic Siamese or a sleek Abyssinian, more like a ginger Tabby. Chubby and easy going, loving my treats, catnip and long sun naps. I would need to be polydactyly though, so that I could hold Gini's latest book. Heck, lets face it, that pretty much describes me now. Maybe I'm a were cat that can't transform?

Hmmm, rethinking the were dragon. My mate just asked what I'd do with such an awesome prize package and I had to say I'd horde it in my lair and hover over it like the precious treasure it is. I think there's some dragon in me after all.
