Tidy My Office: Alien Diplomacy
HOOK ME UP! EXCLUSIVE CONTEST
TIDY MY OFFICE!
WEEK FIVE: Alien Diplomacy
It's time to tidy my office, and I need filing space. To that end, I'm giving away my edited galleys -- the hard copies that have my scribbles on them. There's only one of each book, so these are extremely rare, one-of-a-kind items.
The contest will run weekly for 7 weeks, and cover the first 6 books in the Alien series and Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch.
The contest for the Alien Diplomacy edited galley will run from Tuesday, February 12, 2013 through Monday, February 18, 2013. Any contest entries received for AD after 2-18 will not qualify.
So, registered Hook Me Uppers!, answer this question: When have you dumped diplomacy in favor of ripping someone's head off? Figuratively. Of course.
Love, Gini

This is for Hook Me Up! subscribers only, so if you're not on, now's the time. Send an email with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line to gini@ginikoch.com and I'll send you the rules to enter.
Contest will run weekly from Tuesday, January 15, 2013 through Monday, March 4, 2013 (TBAA runs 01-15-13 to 01-21-13; AT runs 01-22-13 to 01-28-13; AitF runs 01-29-13 to 02-04-13; AP runs 02-05-13 to 02-11-13; AD runs 02-12-13 to 02-18-13; AvA runs 02-19-13 to 02-25-13, and AO:SP runs 02-16-13 to 03-04-13). Each galley's contest will run for a week -- winners will be announced sometime in the week following each galley's entry close. Winners will have until the following Sunday to check in -- any galley not claimed by then will be pulled back by the Gods of Random and a new winner(s) will be chosen.
This an international contest -- as long as you're on Planet Earth, you can enter and win. You must have a deliverable address, though - no P.O. boxes. Prize may take 2-4 weeks to ship; it may take 6-8 weeks for international or longer. Prizes will NOT ship until the final contest week close, on the off chance someone manages to win more than one galley (yes, it's possible, because, as we know, the Gods of Random are capricious).

Figuratively? Ehm.. well, there was this one time that someone insulted me and I lost my temper. I kicked his ass. Figuratively of course, I didn't get near his ass. He did walk with a limp for a week though *whistles innocently*
Wow not a lot of times I have lost my temper, I do try to keep it under control...but there was one time I was showing a Parson Russell Terrier at the dog show in the terrier ring. Another breeder commented on the dog I was showing (not a nice comment.) Next time I went past her I said under my breath but loud enough that she and her friends could hear "better than the pieces of shiet that you breed" She and her friends left. You can kick me but you aint gonna kick my dogs! lol
Ripping someone's head off? That's gonna be a hard one for me. After all, even here at The Home I'm just the soul of discretion. **cough cough** Okay, even I can see that that sounds fishy. Maybe I'm just the sole of discretion, then.
I was on the way to sit next to one of the real hotties in this place at lunchtime the other day (she's only 77, if you can picture that!) when some old geezer in a wheel chair rolled over my foot, and then pulled up next to her while I was jumping up and down and swearing. I was cool about it, though, because I knew that SHE wouldn't want me making a scene. Let's just say that I 'fixed' the left wheel of his chair for him. Now he goes in circles a lot!
When I'm stressing with my job, I want to kick any body ass if they make me anger *lol, but ofcourse I will not do it :D
One time when the school did something that caused my daughter to have an asthma attack. I went after the teacher and the principal
It rarely happens, but when my boys were in school and the teachers called them liars during some economics discussion because they said we didn't have a mortgage I went a wee bit over board. We raised the kids that you don't buy anything you can't pay for including a house. I had to go into school and school the teachers as to this fact.
I LOVE the cover for this book! She looks tough and cool at the same time. Happy Valentine's Day!
I have to say I don't tend to do a lot of ass kicking (figuratively or not), I'd rather avoid the drama. I'm much more likely to stand up for my family and friends than I am for myself though so woe betide anyone who attacks someone I care about - the ass kicking they receive will be anything but figurative LOL
When dealing with my mother inlaw. One too many comments and then the final straw of directing a mean comment at one of my children. Never push this mother it gets ugly.
My partner was being a jack ass. I finally walked up to him and told him to grow up and put his big boy pants on and deal with it.
Not the most pleasant dinner in the world, but it got my point across.
@Heather - That's one of the big problems with living in The Home. Picture your mother in law at her absolute worst. Now age her until about 85. She and all of her closest friends live at The Home. It ain't pretty.
I've been guilty of ripping a few heads off here and there. I remember one time in particular when my ex husband still hadn't gotten past having my boyfriend's name (who is now my husband, and has been for many years),mentioned in his presence, and our kids were really getting tired of him acting like a child about it.
I had to give him the head ripping, tough love speech about growing up and dealing with it...lol
I tend to keep my head and keep from ripping anyone a new one. Though I did come damn close when the school literally LOST my son. Finally they located him at the YMCA. Someone put him on the wrong school bus. He's a first grader.
Damn! I was expected to keep count?
Honestly, I very rarely lose it but I lost it on my ex, I've never screamed at anyone but all he wanted to do was guilt trip me for things I didn't need to feel badly about and I just started screaming at him about how selfish and childish he is and how he needs to learn how to listen to something besides the sound of his own constant whining. I don't think he expected me to ever stand up for myself and since then I just don't deal with anyone trying to walk all over me like he did, he was my breaking point and now I'm a happier person.
@HelloTofu19 - Wow...you got through more than half of that post in one gigantic sentence. I had to stop in the middle and take a nap!
Sometimes I want to chop heads from members of my forum, those who don't respect basic rules of cordiality and scream at other without reason.
this is a stupid example, but it's the best I can think of, I have never been very angry at anybody face to face xD
I had an client who went against my advise. His decision affected every employee. When they got mad, he pointed at me. I verbally tore him a new one, in front of his staff. At which point he tried to hire me. REALLY?
