Alien Research Advanced Copy Giveaway!

When rumors of a new super-drug surface, the FBI comes to Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini for help. It becomes quickly apparent that the drug is merely the tip of a deadly iceberg and a much more insidious plan is underway involving Titan Security, Gaultier Enterprises, and YatesCorp.

As newly discovered A-Cs and hybrids begin to surface, each with expanded and deadly talents, more and more signs point to a new evil genius who’s using the A-Cs and their enemies both as guinea pigs.

Then Area 51 and the Dulce Science Center go silent while Alpha Team, Airborne, and most of the worldwide A-C Security team are there for training. And if that’s not bad enough, Centaurion Division is hit with more bad, and deadly, news: Chernobog the Ultimate, isn’t a hacker myth, he’s a real person -- and he’s on the bad guys’ side.

Now Kitty and company must find the real Dr. Feelgood and stop him or her before the latest version of Surcenthumain hits the streets and more people they love are harmed, or worse.

But when the inconceivable happens, Kitty’s focused on two things only: reviving the ACE entity before their enemies realize Earth’s best protection isn’t actually active…and revenge.

I'm so excited to be the first to post a comment! I'm really intrigued by the cover of the book. Kitty looks so stylish, like some kind of wind-blown safari grad student determined to turn in her thesis paper no matter what (she'll shoot if you get in her way). I can't wait for the next book. You constantly have me laughing!!!

Excellent, Smithers Excellent! I want to win that book!

I'm curious at where this next book will go besides the clues already given.

Also, curious for future books in the series: since we have now seen citizens of other worlds, will the fab team of illustrious best buddies, travel out to space and beyond to see those worlds with "Magic Carpet Ride" playing in the background as they blast off into space?

Oh, oh, and Research project who would I research? I would Chucky cause he is the most like myself; or I would like to think so, in the technology department. Not so much in the paranoia or the conspiracy theory part because I'm not wired that way, however in Gini's world I guess I would be because I would want to know what's going on.

Gower. Reader loves him so Gower must have a both heart and great sense of humor.

Um, would this be Hands On research? And if so, would there be, er "repercussions" from pissed off wives/girlfriends?
If the answer is "yes" followed by "no", I would have to say it would be Christopher - Martini is great, but I have a weakness for snarkiness *sigh*.

I have to confess that as much as I like Dazzlers et al, I have to say I want to research Poofs. I believe they are a resource under utilizsed since clearly more intelligent then average pet. Just how intelligent are they? and how is it they attach to a person and are they really telepathic? Do they have ways to communicate on telepathic levels?
And i like having my virtual poof. :P research any poof

I was going to say Chuckie, as he's the ultimate secret agent man with a double life as a rich playboy. But maybe it would be better to research Terry White, we still don't know enough about her ;)

I'm so excited for the new book!! This is such an awesome series.

This is a hard question, because all the characters are awesome; but if I had to research one character from the series, it would have to be Reader...to see if I could turn him straight. ;)Plus with his good looks and level of intelligence, he could have some A-C in him.

Do Poofs count as character? If so that would be super awesome to research. Lot of hands on research... like hours of petting.

If not, I'll admit Kitty is awesome and there is so much to still learn about her and especially her new abilities. I'm jealous of her ability to talk to animals as that was what I wanted to do as a kid (now I'm not to sure I'd want to know what my cat is thinking).

Gini, I'm so excited that you are coming to Florida and I'm going to do my best to make it there in February even if I have to drag my husband. Sadly he is a non-fiction reader or else I'd make him read your books and then I wouldn't have to drag him!

Hurray for all the minions of Team Gini- The only "Twilight" 'round here is the pretty sunset at Area 51!

I'm in the winning spirit. Who to "research" further...? My vote is Malcolm. Yes, that's off the beaten path, but isn't that the point? We know a lot about the aliens- their biology and their motivations- but its been humans this entire series who've tipped the balance (Yes, ACE too). So, I put to you: Why has Malcolm remained so closeted in his own secrets, habits, and, above all, privacy? I might be accused of having a suspicious mind.

I'd have to say the Poofs! I think there's a lot more to them than just cute fuzzy little bodyguards. How did they come into existence? How did they hook up with the royal family?

First, whoever designs these covers rocks. Although they really need to give Jeff that reverse-Avengers treatment that was going around the blogosphere a few years ago. Just for the hell of it.

As for the question: There's no doubt in mind. I want to know more about ACE and the menagerie. I want a Poof as badly as I want a Minion and a Tribble! Although, the Poof would probably eat the poor Tribble as the Minion pointed and laughed while eating a banana. :(

On a side note ... I love these books! I talk about the poof so much at work that I now have a sign that say .. "Don't make me angry or my poofs will eat you!" Think I talk about the poofs too much :0)

So excited the new book will be out soon and would love a chance to win a signed copy!

I would like a chance to research the Poofs. As a devoted cat person, with 5 rescues, the I would love to have a real Poof for protection and cuddles! Although the mostly Maine Coon that showed up nearly 12 years ago does a great job at that. He is ferocious!

This is hard! I'd really love to know more about the Poofs, Chuckie, Jeff, and definitely the lady in the embassy across the street, among others.

But if I had to choose right now, I'd say Kitty's parents.
With their clearance levels, jobs, and long history of keeping secrets, I just know there are some good tales back there, just waiting to be told!
To me

Of course, I'm gonna leave more than one comment here...LOL!

I really, really, really...got enough reallys there...love the cover. It looks wonderfully sci-fi and Area 51ish if you get my drift.

And I should know as I've actually seen Area 51 from the top of a mesa when I worked at the Nevada Test Site. It's interesting and all desert with an airstrip. Of course, you can't see anything at all. But that's the way it's supposed to be!

Now to answer the big question: If you had to research more about any one character from the series, who would you choose and why?

Can we have more than one? See, my idea is to try and make the humans more like ACs in some ways. I'm wondering if loading them up with the occasional nanites wouldn't get them a little closer to doing the same things as the ACs, like being super fast.

I don't think it would make them any smarter as they are all brilliant, ACs and humans alike, in your novels.

Still, I wonder what would happen if they were given a little non-harmful boost of loki-juice, so to speak.

November 14, 2013 at 5:09 AM
Blogger Lynn Crain said...

Told you I'd get my comments in...LOL!

But if you wanted me to answer just one...alas...I couldn't. But I can name at least two I'd love to research.

First, it would definitely be the Poofs because I personally want one for myself. Who knew that such a loving creature would eat you up if you so much as looked at me wrong? I swear, not I.

Second, it would have to be Olga because she knows so much and she knows it faster than most ACs. Or it seems that way. That woman is more than she seems, or she has so many fingers in so many pies that are all connected to her for instant communication. Kinda like a mega-brain with nerves reaching far and wide. You get the picture.

Now that the focus of the Kitty Katt series has moved on from fighting superbeings, much of the conspiracies, frequented landmarks, advances in technology/biology, and potential harm to the human race parallel much of Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger novels. Don't get me wrong; he doesn't write about sexy altruistic aliens on a mission to save the Earth. Maberry has a thing for presenting megalomaniacs who never had a passing acquaintance with "sane." He's mind-bending SF horror with human heroes you can really befriend. After reading EXTINCTION MACHINE, ALIEN IN THE HOUSE, and the description for ALIEN RESEARCH recently, I couldn't resist bringing up the similarity.

Chuckie. Reasons? I have a serious thing for intelligent men and I love conspiracy theories. I find them very interesting. Some of them are crazy, some of them are funny and some of them are a little too believable for my sense of comfort and level of paranoia.

And as for naming the Patented Glares…pfft…already done that…ya gotta channel your Inner Kitty and just name things….

PG 1 = "The Standard" This is the glare that your toes are awfully close to the line and they better inch back PDQ….

PG 2 = "The Hellraiser" This is the glare that promises that All Hell is About To Break Loose--and you *will* be on the losing side….

PG 3 = "The Hairy Eyeball" This is the glare perfected by teachers everywhere…I find it works best if you wear glasses….the glasses come down, one eyebrow goes up….and middle school students freeze by the classroom….I can get a noisy class silent in under 3 seconds with this one….

PG 4 = "Divine Intervention" Because that is the only thing that will save your sorry self if you don't back off….

PG 5 = "Cyclops" or maybe in Christopher's case, "Bi-clops" Lasers are shooting out of the eyes with this one...

obviously I'd love to research ALL the *god* A.C. guys, because, HELLO! GORGEOUS! *coughsexualharrassmentcharges coughcough*
ACE is just awesome, and more knowledge about how he came into being would probably blow my mind.
Poofs because OMG! POOFS!
But I think I do have to go with Kitty's mum. She's done so much and is still so mysterious. (To Kitty anyway)
And I totally agree with Anne and MandyMe, a novella would be AmAzing!

If you had to research more about any one character from the series, who would you choose and why?

I would choose to research on James Reader because firstly, he's HOT. Given the way how each of the Alien series books would always mention James's Calvin Klein Ad Poster no matter how briefly, I feel the need to see it and admire it for myself.

Sides, in Alien in the House, James mentioned to Nathalie that Kitty never asked him to show her his portfolio like she asked Nat, and wouldn't it be awesome to be able to look at that; James in all his glory OH GOD *fantasizing now*

BUT, that's besides the point. In Touched by an Alien, James said that he was inducted in to the A.C. family because he killed a superbeing too. But how? It'll be awesome to know how he came across it, how he killed it(with a pen?), and how he met Paul Gower and how their love story began. May I request a short novella on that? Heh.

November 18, 2013 at 4:48 AM

Chelene's suggestion about a novella on James was very insightful. I'm also cheering on those who voted for our friends in the embassy across the street. If these suggestions for "research" open Gini up to more short fiction, I can't wait for the results!

So I'm super slow. I just realized that I didn't respond to the question.

If I could research anyone I would like to research Christopher. I'm so happy he has found Amy to love. I would kind of like to see a story from their point of view. It's so great to see how in love Kitty and Jeff are but I want to see the same 'emotional' love for Christopher and Amy.

If not Christopher, then Chuckie is my next choice!

So, does this mean we will get another story (or just backstory - hopefully told in the style of the ones on Phineas and Ferb) from another character? Don't get me wrong I love the way Kitty thinks, probably because my mind also jumps around all nimbly wimbly, and her relationship with Martini is awesome but all of the characters in the books are so engaging and could easily become the main feature.

Already looking forward to the next, next book. :)

I know the contest is over but these just keeps rattling around in my brain:

1. What do the poofs get up to when there's no emergency, and no one is around?
2. What was Poof Life like before they came to Earth? Were they simply born when the new branch of the Royal Family was re-established, or were they unmatched, and just popping around having adventures?
3. There's this feminist idea for evaluating movies I'm dying to apply here, involving the question of, if there is more than one female around, and they're talking to each other, are they only there to talk about the Hero?
So, do the poofs talk to each other about anything other than their humans or A/Cs, and if so, what?

Sorry. Had to get that off of my chest.
