Happy Mid-May!
May is an interesting month in that there's a lot going on, but that "lot" doesn't affect everyone, particularly in the second half of the month. You may be looking forward to school being over, graduation, Memorial Day celebrations, or just noting a weather change.
Here at the Manse we "celebrated" by having a lovely tree that was killed before its time (darn you unexpected frosts) removed and a new one put into its place. The great circle of plant life -- that we are still not quite used to, because most of the plants out here are not the plants we grew up with.
The tree is near the house, and I mentioned that I wanted it removed ASAP because it was a terrible fire hazard. The man from the nursery looked at me and said, "Even if you hadn't told me you were from the Southwest, I'd know because of that statement. There is NO risk of fire hazard here." To which I replied, "Oh. Um, yeah. It rains all the time, doesn't it? All. The. Time." But I still love my new little tree and hope it has an even longer life than its predecessor.
But enough about the secret life of trees, because the next READ THIS! Author Q&A is just a few days away, and it promises to be another good one! So let's get right to it, shall we? We shall! |
