Paranormal Yapping

Happy Thursday! I know, I know -- lots of activity last week and then this week...silence. Hey, I've been busy; Alien Collective isn't going to write itself, you know. (I WISH it wanted to write itself, mind you, but it insists on my taking an active part. So unfair.) Anyway, there's lots going on, so let's get caught up, shall we? We shall!

First off, later today -- Thursday, Oct. 10th, 7-8:30pm Eastern/6-7:30pm Central/5-6:30pm Mountain/4-5:30pm Pacific -- the Paranormal Romance Dream Team will be chatting it up over at Literal Addiction. The Team consists of moi, Caris Roane, Erin Quinn, and Erin Kellison. Not only are the four of us hella fun, especially together, but we're all giving away prizes during the chat, so don't miss it!

Next up, check out what Team Tynga's Reviews is daring you to read. (Okay, you've probably all read it. But just in case, I double dog dare you!)

Then head over to Two Lips Reviews to see what they thought of When Josie Comes Home and Deacon's Ark by A.E. Stanton (yes, that's moi...and for those wondering, yes, more installments in this series WILL be coming).

Wondering just what's out there and what's coming, book-wise, for moi? Or just can't keep track of all the pen names and/or titles? Then check out my recently somewhat redesigned and even prettier Bibliography page -- it's all there!

Speaking of pen names -- the Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters Kickstarter, where my story is being written as J.C. Koch, more than fully funded, hitting all the stretch goals, even the super secret ones the authors didn't know about. Mega-thanks to all of you who helped support that, and the Clockwork Universe: Steampunk vs. Aliens Kickstarter, too. Really looking forward to being part of these and bringing some new stories out! (And, is that a new Kickstarter anthology just around the corner? I think there might be, so stand ready, because there WILL be tuckerizaions. Just sayin'...)

Going to the movies this weekend? Check out my reviews of The World's End and Metallica: Through the Never over at Slice of SciFi to see what I do and don't recommend, and why.

And now, a little business-type news. As many of you know, I write under a variety of pen names, including G.J. Koch, who writes the Alexander Outland series. Over the past year I've had a lot of questions about this series, 99.9% of which being, "When is the next book coming out?" I've been vague, unclear, or evasive because the publisher, Night Shade Books, was having major financial difficulties, and the books and authors were in the process of getting sold, reassigned, bartered, pick a description you like.

The new publisher duo (don't ask) Start and Skyhorse and I couldn't come to terms on the next books in this series. But in an incredible act of business decency and wisdom, they've legally allowed me to do whatever I want with any future books in the series. They still have Alexander Outland: Space Pirate and seem intent to keep on selling it, which is great news, since I'm intent to keep on writing these books, particularly now that I can without certain restraints (like, oh, not getting paid and/or being sued), and having the first book available is nice for little things like series continuity.

SO, before you all race off to pre-order, let me mention that I haven't written a word on Alexander Outland: Space Avenger since the financial issues came to light (MONTHS ago -- and you can safely assume any week where you barely heard from me BUT I was at home/not at a con means I was consumed with this situation), so I have no ETA for that book at this precise time. What I DO have is the happy knowledge that there can now BE that book, and Alexander Outland: Galactic Gigolo, and any other stories I might want to tell about Nap and his crew. And, while we're at it, yes, more in the Necropolis Enforcement Files series will be coming, too. Night Music isn't being ignored, it just has to wait its turn (and that turn is after Alien Collective, because Kitty comes first, which she feels is exactly how things should always be).

So, onward we go! That's it for today, at least until the Paranormal Romance Dream Team chat later on, but as always, more's on the way. So, chat with some of you later, all of you enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend, and let's be readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Kaijuing Up the Catch Up

I know, I know...I've been back from WorldCon for a week and yet you haven't heard from me. WorldCon was made of awesome, by the way. But I'll catch you up on that later. (And I can HEAR you all going, "Oh yeah? Like you've caught us up on Phoenix Comicon and San Diego Comic-Con and CopperCon? Just like that, Gini?" And I say, "Yeah! Just like that! Only WITH information. Coming soon. I swear!" But I digress...) And there's been so much going on! Well, um, that's part of why you haven't heard from me. LOL Well, that and the combo of jet lag and con lag that have had me moving in molasses. But, enough whining -- let's get to the stuff!

First up, I'm in a new Kickstarter anthology, writing as J.C. Koch, and this one's about monsters! Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters to be exact! There are a ton of cool levels and even more cool horror authors involved, so head on over and fund it today!

After that, head over to The Nameless Zine, where there's an interview with awesome SF/F author L.E. Modesitt, Jr. as well as a review of The Happy Acres Haunted Hotel for Active Seniors in The Book Nook section. Then see what SF Reader has to say about Alien Proliferation.

Then hit Gizmo's Reviews and see who she thinks are the Top Ten Most Memorable Secondary Characters. Speaking of reviews, check out what I thought of "Riddick" over at Slice of SciFi

And now, for the upcoming events! First off, for those of you in the Central and Northern Arizona areas, I'll be up at the NARWA meeting on Saturday, September 21, doing not one but TWO presentations -- Writing from the Hindbrain at 11am, and Archetypes, Stereotypes & Cliches at 1pm. Join us if you're able, at the Prescott Golf & Country Club, 1030 Prescott Country Club Blvd., Dewey, AZ 86327.

Next up, I'll be doing a live chat with the other members of the Paranormal Dream Team -- Erin Quinn, Erin Kellison, and Caris Roane (like us on Facebook!) -- over at the Literal Addiction Paranormal Book Club, on Thursday, October 10, from 7:00-8:30pm EST. And yes, there WILL be prizes, so don't miss out!

Then, on Saturday, November 9th, it's the 8th Annual FREE Fall Writer's Workshop, where I'll be presenting Finding Your Voice, and will also be on a panel of successful published authors to tell you What Does It Take to be Happily Published Today? The Workshop runs from 9:30am-4:30pm, Scottsdale Civic Center Library, 3839 Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251. We could charge a lot for this event...but we don't, so be sure you take advantage of all the great education being offered!

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So enjoy the rest of the week and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Yappin', Yappin', Yappin' Day and Night

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned, but don't head into it without checking out my latest yappings over at Book Monster and Literal Addiction. There's a chance to win Touched by an Alien, Alien Tango, Alien in the Family, or Alien Proliferation, signed and personalized, at BOTH blogs, so TWO chances to win today!

Live Girls Chatting Update: I got the start time wrong (shocking, well, no one, probably). The REAL start time is 8pm Eastern, so 5pm Pacific, TODAY and whatever other times. I'll be there (where?) and you should be, too! Secrets may be revealed, spoilers may be shared...you never can tell. Literal Addiction Author Chat.

We have a new Q&A up at Ask Gini in the Extra Me! section. Then check out the nice things My World...in Words and Pages has to say about Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch (that's moi, for those of you who just joined the Alien Collective).

Speaking of Alexander Outland, reminder that from now until April 19th, Night Shade Books is offering every title, both existing and forthcoming, for 50% off, with a 4 book minimum. And that INCLUDES Alexander Outland: Space Pirate. This is a GREAT opportunity to get my bookie wookie AND at least 3 others for the price of two! Night Shade has great titles from awesome authors, so don't miss this chance to score books now AND in the future for half price!

I was going to do my LepreCon and Jambalaya Conference roundups today, but as with earlier in the week, this puppy's already long enough. So, expect that soon, soon-ish, before I forget what happened, and until then, enjoy linking, saving, and chatting! Catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Gettin' Ready

It's a short and sweet one today, because, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, I'm getting ready for the Combo-Con Contest launching a little later today. So let's roll so that we can get the winning started!

Had a great time chatting with some Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing last night. (Y'all know "the secrets" now, so don't give 'em away!) Thanks again to Book Monster and Literal Addiction for setting it all up!

Now, head over to Bitten By Books and check out the latest review of "Alien Proliferation". Then check out my first ever interview with the Arizona Republic.

Remember, if you're not on Hook Me Up!, you won't be eligible for the Combo-Con Contest that's starting a little later today. Rectify immediately by sending an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line.

Because I'll be headed off tomorrow to be at Mysterious Galaxy's Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event on Saturday, you won't hear from me until next week. So, have fun with all the links and get your read on with "Alien Proliferation". Peace out, li'l gangstas -- I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

The Yappingest of Wednesdays

Well, do we have a busy Hump Day going on! There's truly so much that I almost don't know where to begin. But let's go for it and sort it out as we go along.

First up, head over to catch the yap running at both Book Monster AND Literal Addiction. You want to hit both sites, because there's a chance to win a limited edition 2012 Gini Calendar from each site (so, 2 calendars are up for grabs), and if you leave a comment at both sites, then you just doubled your chances (and your fun, but since Wrigley is NOT a paid sponsor, we'll just let that one go).

Then head over to BookSpot Central where the yap is also running, albeit with a whole different set of questions.

Next, find out what Absorbed in a Book and A Buckeye Girl Reads thought of "Alien Proliferation". Then head to SUVUDU for another good listing of yesterday's releases.

Then, later today, tune in for the live chat with yours truly over at Literal Addiction. You don't want to miss this because you never know...I could let a spoiler or two out...it's happened before... Chat details below.

Chat Time: 6-8pm Mountain time (8pm start Eastern, 7pm start Central, 5pm start Pacific, open internationally but you'll have to figure out the times on your own, sorry, LOL).

LINK FOR LIVE CHAT -

NOTE: This Chatroom works best with Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari web browsers. It does work with older versions of I.E, though it has been known to have issues. The newer versions of Internet Explorer (I.E) do not work at all! Please use Firefox or Chrome for best results, and make sure that your Java is up-to-date!

REMINDER: I'll be in San Diego at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore for their Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event on Saturday, December 10th, from 3-5pm, signing "Alien Proliferation" and anything else attendees want. Hope to see some of you there!

The Combo-Con Contest will be starting tomorrow, so keep your eyeballs peeled because this is a combination of at least 4 cons' worth of goodies...and in addition to posters and other cool things, there are a LOT of books that will be up for grabs. And when I say a lot, I MEAN a LOT. Winners are going to have plenty of reading material for quite a while.

Of course, the only ones who can enter and win are my Hook Me Up! subscribers. Not on yet? I won't ask why, I'll just tell you to rectify! Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and do it today!

So, enjoy all the link and blog hopping and let's be readers out there -- specifically of "Alien Proliferation"!

Love,
Gini
