READ THIS! Author Q&A, CoastCon Recap, and More!

It's Almost St. Patrick's Day!

Time for all of us to pretend we're Irish at least for a day and love the color green, the Emerald Isle, U2, and putting green food coloring into many things it doesn't belong in. The fact that this year St. Patty's (Paddy's? Paddies? Patties?) Day falls on a Friday should mean a weekend of fun. But SAFE fun, because Monday is the first official day of Spring, and we all want to see that, right? Of course right!

But before we celebrate the Irish and Spring (letting the soap joke go, with effort), we have the READ THIS! Author Q&A com this Thursday. So let's get to it, shall we? We shall!

March 2023 READ THIS! Author Q&A

No Choice
By Mel Todd

Because I get asked this daily (often multiple times daily)...

Yes, Aliens Like Us IS coming, but...

No, Aliens Like Us still isn't ready for Prime Time, but...

I'm on Version 5 of the rewrite process. Does every book take me this long? No. Will all the others in the series take this long? Likely no. Life has tossed a lot at me and mine and that's made some things a struggle, but...

Kitty is always with me, and she's not going to let the bad things win, in any universe.

So...Watch this space for more updates as I have them. And keep those digits crossed for the hope that my shouting "the end!" comes sooner as opposed to later.

P.S. I am definitely heading towards the end game. I realize that's vague, but it means that I think we'll be shouting "hurrah" somewhere in the nearish term. Digits crossed, at any rate...

P.P.S. Watch this space, I'm hoping to share happy news soon.

CoastCon Recap!

I had a super time being the Author Guest of Honor at CoastCon this year! It's a nice smaller con that really knows how to take care of its guests. All the attendees were lovely, the guests were super, the con organizers were on top of things, and I had a blast!

In addition to getting to meet a lot of new folks, including awesome authors J.B. Garner and and Julie Wetzel (who also makes adorable crafts), I got to spend time with the Media Guests of Honor, Kevin E. Thompson and Tracey McCoy Thompson. You know Kevin from a ton of movies, but foremost as one of the main Ewoks in "Return of the Jedi". Kevin and Tracey are awesome folks and they have a book out about Kevin's experiences making Jedi -- My Journey to Endor -- which is a really great read I highly recommend.

The Ewok Patrol (clockwise from top left: Moi, Bruce Duckett, John Perkins, Kevin E. Thompson, Tracey McCoy Thompson)

Speaking of all things Star Wars, Fan Guest of Honor Chip Lechner was both a lot of fun and instrumental in getting Kevin to the con, so a win all around!

I also got to spend time with one of the Originals on Team Tuckerization, James Conason (yeah, you know his name) who's been A Member of the Alien Collective in Very Good Standing for a very long time.
And of course there was the food. Biloxi is right on the Gulf of Mexico and that means amazing sea food. Delicious meals abounded, including at See Wee Roll, where we had a lot of delicious sushi and hibachi.
(Clockwise from front: Elizabeth, Glenna, and Michael Lambert, Christina Spinelli, and Moi)

CoastCon has it all, including panels, tons of gaming, workshops, a great dealer's hall, and, of course, cosplay. There were a lot of great costumes, but Jay and Silent Bob were my favorites.

Read Out Loud!

Do you have your copy of the Touched by an Alien audiobook yet? If not, don't wait! Grab yours today!

Premiering 2016

Hey there -- I'm not dead!

I know, right? I've been silent for, um, 2 months, and so I'm sure you wondered. But, hey, I warned all y'all that I was going to be less active due to deadlines. The last batch of deadlines are done, the current batch are still conceivably on time, so I'm able to kind of look up and share things.

And there's lots that's been going on TO share, so let's start getting caught up. (No, we won't be all caught up today, but hey, well begun is half done, am I right?)

First up, I've hit the visual media a lot for Slice of SciFi. So head over there to see what I thought of Deadpool, my 5 Episodes In review of Supergirl, and hear what I and other Slice reviewers thought of The Force Awakens. Agree, disagree, or just want to share your thoughts? Join in the discussion over at Slice!

If you missed seeing the me at The Poisoned Pen in December or elsewhere while I was on book tour, no worries, 'cause LiveStream has you covered. Lots of news and laughs and some announcements, all for your viewing pleasure.

There is SO MUCH MORE COMING (including a contest for Hook Me Up! subscribers only and a really exciting announcement), but I'm doing my best not to bury the lead (too much), which is this:

You wanna see the cover for Camp Alien?

I knew you did! Head over to my Premieres (http://www.ginikoch.com/premiere.htm) page and check it out!

That's it for today, but, trust me, more's on the way. So let's be cover viewing readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Captain Contest

Happy Friday! Now that the weekend is here, what should do with it? In my opinion, and as promised, you should read my review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier over at Slice of SciFi and plan accordingly.

Planning to stay home this weekend? No worries. Check out my review of Star Wars: Clone Wars, Season 6 also over at Slice of SciFi to see if you should choose it for your Netflix binging pleasure.

And if you just want to hang out and listen to all things geek, check out the latest installment of More Geek Than Gay. Then, check out what's on Bibliognome's TBR pile. Speaking of which...

What else shall we do with this weekend's time? Well, I have a couple of books that a couple of people might, you know, want. That's right, it's time for a Flash Contest! Yes, you read that right. There are two copies of Alien Collective up for grabs. There will be another contest coming (when I get my other copies in), but since DAW saw fit to toss a couple extras to me fast, I'm seeing fit to do the same for all of you. Yes, it's open internationally. All you'll need to do is answer THIS question: If you could pair Kitty up with any superhero not in the Kittyverse, who would it be and why?

Yes, this one requires a specific Blog comment in order to enter. Contest runs through Monday, April 7. Winners announced on Tuesday, April 8. Because it's a flash contest (get it? Flash? Heh, oh, I slay me) so it's gotta go FAST. As always, if the winners don't claim their prizes fast, as in by Thursday, April 10, the Gods of Random will snatch back the prize and choose a new winner. Because they're more like Loki than Thor, that's why.

That's it for today, but as always, there's more on the way. So let's be pop culture consuming winning readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, catch you on the flip side, and may the Gods of Random smile upon you.

Love,
Gini
