Halloween Humping

Made you look.

Happy Hump Day! I know, I know, I've been essentially silent and not around much. Been busy, mostly because Alien Collective is due and is (shocking no one) not done yet. So I've been focused. FOCUSED I TELL YOU. And I swear that focus has not been on Halloween candy. Much.

But, because things pile up and all that, figured it was about time (high time, past time, and half time) to catch all y'all up on the various happenings going on. So let's get to it, shall we? We shall.

First up and speaking of Alien Collective, have you done your girl a solid and pre-ordered Alien Research yet? (Did you see what I did there? Heh.) You have? I lurves you. You haven't yet? Why ever not? Pre-orders are vitally important, and if we want to keep DAW wanting to keep the series going, they matter even more. You don't want to pre-order because you plan to come see the me at a signing? Then pre-order from that bookstore, my darlings. It makes the bookstore, the publisher, AND the author happy. You get a triple! Such a deal.

Speaking of bookstores and signings and other in-person events, oh my, mark the calendars now:
--Saturday, November 9, 8th Annual FREE Fall Writer's Workshop, Scottsdale Civic Center Library, Scottsdale, AZ, 9:30am-4:30pm, presenting Finding Your Voice 11:15am-12:00noon; What Does It Take To Get Happily Published Today? 1:30-2:15pm
--Saturday, December 7, Mysterious Galaxy San Diego, CA, Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event, 3-5pm
--Sunday, December 8, Mysterious Galaxy Redondo Beach, CA, Holiday Party, 3-5pm
--Thursday, December 12, The Poisoned Pen, Scottsdale, AZ, 7-8:30pm. There may also be another LiveStream event along with the in-store signing, so stay tuned
--January 9-12, 2014, DarkCon, Phoenix, AZ, where I'm the Local Author Guest of Honor, don't miss this one, it's gonna be huge
--January 24-26, 2014, San Diego State 30th Anniversary Writer's Conference, San Diego, CA; I'm on the faculty, panels to be announced
--February 6-9, 2014, Coastal Magic Con, Daytona Beach, FL, panels, signings, dinners, laser tag, what's not to love
--March 15-16, 2014, Tucson Festival of Books, Tucson, AZ; panels, signings, and lots of booth hours

After making plans to see the me in the coming months, head over to Larissa's Bookish Life and see who her top male book characters are. Then see what Autograph Hound thought of seeing me again at WorldCon. And last but in no way least, see who The Writer Librarian has in her mutual admiration society.

Looking for some Halloween reading? Why not check out The Night Beat or The Happy Acres Haunted Hotel for Active Seniors? Or take a stab at The Disciple, Amazing & Waiting: Two Novelettes, or Hotter Than Hell by me writing as Jemma Chase.Want more? Check out the Bibliography page for all the reading matter that's fit to print!

Last but not least, I have some friends doing a variety of Kickstarter projects you may want to check out (in order of soonest to funding's end):
Neverland's Library
Noble Ark
Publish Masochists

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend, hope those who indulge have a safe and Happy Halloween, and let's be readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Urban Revolt

Happy Hump Day! I know you're all shocked that you didn't hear from me yesterday, what with the Necropolis Blog Tour still going strong and all. I had Effectiveness Fail on Tuesday, caused in no small part by Writing Inspiration. So, hopefully you'll all forgive me.

So, let's get right to it. First off, head over to The Peasants Revolt where Excerpt #10 of The Night Beat, and it's accompanying chance to win a copy of the bookie wookie, are large and in charge. It's a very nicely laid out site, so take a moment to check it all out. Contest ends Sept. 27.

Then head to Sara's Urban Fantasy Blog where Excerpt #11 and yet another chance to win a copy of The Night Beat await you. Contest ends Sept. 29.

Remember to hit all the prior stops -- collect 'em all and you'll have gotten to read the first 10 chapters of The Night Beat. Enter everywhere and get that many more chances to win your own copy. So, check out Invasion of the Blog Tour for any stops you've missed, including: Stop 5/Ex Libris, contest ends Sept. 21; Stop 6/Pearls Cast Before a McPig, contest ends Sept. 29; Stop 7/Bibliognome, contest ends TODAY Sept. 19; Stop 8/A Buckeye Girl Reads, contest ends Sept. 28; and Stop 9/Hanging with Bells, contest ends Sept. 25.

Next, check out the cool, fun, and funny interview with my BFF Marsheila Rockwell over at Civilian Reader.

After all that, check out The Nameless Zine where there's a nice listing of my upcoming October personal appearances. There's also a cool interview with awesome author James A. Owen (part of which I got to hear live at CopperCon), so check the Zine out and enjoy the reading.

A note for those who normally see me at TusCon in November -- I have a conflicting event and will NOT be at TusCon this year. So, if you were planning to come see me there (and I know several of you who were), please come see me in October in Douglas, Queen Creek, Sedona, or Phoenix.

Speaking of said conflicting November event, if you're an aspiring author, you don't want to miss the 7th Annual FREE Fall Writers Workshop. You'll get 12 multi-published authors, including moi, all teaching on different aspects of the writing world and the publishing business. PLUS the amazing Jennifer Ashley (aka Allison James and Ashley Gardner) will be the keynote speaker. Truly, if you want to learn to write or learn how to get published, don't miss this event. And, yes, no joke -- it's completely FREE. Why do we do it? 'Cause we're givers, that's why. And, you don't have to be a writer to attend. If you just want to come to meet some awesome authors and get to hang out with them...well, you can do that, too. All are welcome!

Speaking of CopperCon, I realized yesterday, during Writing Inspiration time, that I haven't actually done my recap. So, that'll be coming up this week. I know, how can you stand the suspense of it? Hey, it was a great little con and deserves the update. But today was plenty full, so the recap will be coming on a less full, but no less exciting, day.

So until next time, peace out, my li'l gangstas, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Friday Fun

Happy Friday, one and all! As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we've got a short and sweet, but fun, one for y'all today, so let's get to it!

First off, head over to The Amber Scott Project to discover 10 things you didn't know about moi. Trust me, these are things you really DON'T know about me. And this is your only shot to find out. After this, it's back to the mystery that is moi. *snort*

After learning all there is to know about yours truly, hit Escape Between the Pages to see what she's waiting on, then head to Lovin' and Livin' Life Reviews to see who won what and why.

Reminder: I'll be at Borders Waterfront tonight from 5-7pm signing "Touched by an Alien". (I may also be signing "Alien Tango". Hey, anything's possible, right?) I'm not alone there, seeing as there's 8 of us signing, and we're all bringing goodies and raffle prizes, so if you're in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area, you might want to stop by.

Then on Saturday, as in tomorrow, I'll be at the Desert Rose Fifth Annual Fall Writer's Workshop. It's free, I'm doing a panel with the awesome Erin Quinn and we're also in the Q&A session at the end. It's at the Scottsdale Public Library and runs from 9am-4:30pm.

So, see some of you tonight and tomorrow, love all of you as you well know, enjoy your weekend and keep on reading!

Love,
Gini

Reviews, Anticipations and Yaps, Oh My!

Miss me while I was gone? Well, I missed all of you during the weekend, but TusCon was awesome! I'll do a recap later, 'cause, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, so much went on while I was gone that I have a lot to catch you up on.

First off, we have a new review of "Touched by an Alien". Check out Dren's B-Spot and what she liked best about our fave aliens.

Then, head over to the Bibliophilic Book Blog and see how strong (ARMY strong!) "Alien Tango" actually is. Then, hit Books, According to Nicole and share in the anticipation. And check out what My Need to Read thought of "Touched by an Alien" as well.

Think that's all? No way! The yap is running again! Check out The Book Pushers interview and learn yet more about what we laughingly call "my process". Oh, and *cough cough* there might be an excerpt from "Alien Tango" there, too. Might be. Just sayin'. Could happen.

Next on the hit parade, if you want a chance to see moi in person, you've got more opportunities coming up.

Friday, Nov. 19th -- Author Book Signing, Borders Waterfront, Scottsdale, AZ, 5PM - 7PM. 8 authors, lots of books, yours truly, signing like mad. (Attention Local Alien Collective Members: I might have copies of "Alien Tango" with me, and if I do, I might be persuaded to sell them to you, all early-like. Just sayin' it's a possibility...)
Saturday, Nov. 20th -- Desert Rose Annual Fall Writer's Workshop, Scottsdale, AZ, 9AM - 4:30PM. FREE all day seminar with tracks for all aspiring and new authors on all the aspects of how to and why to write. Scottsdale Public Library.
Saturday, Dec. 11th -- spotlight author at the Mysterious Galaxy Holiday Party, San Diego, CA, 6PM - 8PM. Come get your copy of "Alien Tango", get it signed, and hang out with yours truly at the coolest bookstore around.

That's it for today, but I promise...more is coming, including a Combo Con Swag Giveaway! So stay tuned, live large, and read on!

Love,
Gini

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well, I was going to do my World Fantasy Con roundup today, but, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, a massive number of deadlines earned at WFC combined with some "fun" computer issues has put me behind, and my roundup isn't ready. I know, I know, crushing disappointment from all, I'm sure, but hey, there's other stuff going on, so let me catch you up quickly on all that, and then, NEXT time, the roundup, cross my heart and hope to be whisked away by an A-C.

What other stuff, you ask? Why our Alien Collective Member in Very Good Standing and "Alien Tango" ARC winner My 5 Monkeys has her review up. And lest anyone think "Touched by an Alien" has been forgotten, Book Crazy Scrapbook Mama has her review going strong. Hit them both, leave some Alien Collective love, you know the drill.

Smootchies and thank yous to Dark Wyrm Reads and Tempting Persephone who are encouraging one and all to take a look at the excerpt from "Alien Tango" that's up on the Deathless Prose page. If you haven't checked it out yet, don't delay! Head over and whet the ol' appetite for Kitty, Martini, and the rest of the gang. And smootchies to all on Twitter and Facebook who are also spreading the excerpt love. Y'all rock!

Speaking of advanced reading opportunities and My 5 Monkeys (ooh, a DOUBLE), check out who's getting to borrow her "Alien Tango" ARC. Congrats to those who are getting to paw the precious! Hope you all enjoy it as much as Julie did!

Site updates are going on all the time in the background. If you've reviewed "Touched by an Alien" or "Alien Tango" (woot!) and don't see your review listed on the Accolades page, let me know so we can rectify.

In Person/Con Reminder: I'll be in Tucson for TusCon 37 from November 12-14th. If you're in or around the Greater Tucson area, try to stop by. I'm doing a large number of panels and, if memory serves, a reading, as well as partaking in the book signing. Plus, many other of my fave awesome authors will be there. You'll be glad you made the trip, I promise.

Also, aspiring authors in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area, don't miss the Fall Writers Workshop at the Scottsdale Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 20th. I'll be there, leading a session with the awesome Erin Quinn on "Two Faces of Paranormal", and there's much, much more. And it's FREE. Chance to meet a ton of authors? Check. Chance to learn a lot? Check. All for free? Double check. So, hope to see you there!

That's it for today. Enjoy the slide to the weekend and keep it alien! Peace out, li'l gangstas!

Love,
Gini
