Log Humping

Made you look.

Happy Hump Day! Today, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we only have a couple things on tap. First off, the reminder that my Back to School Sale is in Day Two of Three, so don't delay -- get The Night Beat for $0.99 in any and all eformats, including Amazon Kindle, Nook, and Sony, Kobo, PDF, etc. Sale ends tomorrow/Thursday night, so don't miss out!

Next up, as many of you know, I teach a course on how (and why) to write log lines. Well, the Log Line Blog asked me to do a guest post, and since it's run by awesome author and Alien Collective Member in Very Good Standing Lynn Crain, how could I say no? You're right, I couldn't. So, check it out and give the Log Line Blog some AC love.

Last, a reminder that I'll be at CopperCon this weekend. Hope to see some of you there, and if you're on the fence, the hotel is lovely, the people are nice, you get to hang with moi and other cool authors, and the cost is not onerous. Sure, it's hot out here, but we don't go outside -- we stay indoors in air conditioned comfort while discussing all the things we love (books, movies, TV shows, gaming) while in like-minded company.

So, until next time, get your (incredibly cheap) copy of The Night Beat, enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

The Yap Has Quite the Week Goin' On

Happy Tuesday!

The Tucson Festival of Books was made of awesome, and I have a full recap to share and a lovely stuffed Penguin Classics totebag filled with books and goodies to give away -- for Hook Me Up! subscribers only, of course. (Not on? Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and do it today!) But not at this precise time. Why not? Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, it's because we are loaded with so much of the cool and exciting today that I need to catch you up on all of that, much of which also contains some serious winning. So, enough prelude, right? Let's see the goods!

First up, head over to ALPHA Reader where the yap is running wild and free. There's a new excerpt up from "Alien in the Family", too. AND, there's also a chance to win a copy of "Alien Tango". Truly, there's a lot going on in ALPHA Land!

There's also a heck of a lot going on over at Bitten By Books. The yap will be on call there tomorrow, for yet another interview and Q&A session. RSVP NOW, so you don't miss out. Miss out on what? On some more awesome winning -- a lovely pack of Penguin books, or an Alien Collective Pack. Then check out the reviews for "Touched by an Alien" and "Alien Tango".

Books, According to Nicole has a nice little recap of the first day of the Tucson Festival of Books. My fave bookstore in the world, Mysterious Galaxy, has a lovely set of brand new things in for April. The Antick Musings of G.B.H. Hornswoggler, Gent. has some nice things in his mailbox. Likewise SF Scope also has some good things received. And Literary Escapism has a great listing of upcoming releases.

Remember that it's never too early to pre-order "Alien Proliferation" or too late to pre-order "Alien in the Family".

Many congrats to my good friend, and Alien Collective Member in Very Good Standing, author Lynn Crain, for her EPIC win for her eBook, "The Haunting of Maggie Grey"!

Is there more? Yes, there is. But I'm gonna let you get all caught up with this flurry of info and contests and such first. Then I'll hit you with the rest. So keep your eyeballs peeled, get your contest entries in, check out all the yap, and I'll catch my li'l gangstas on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

The Swag Returns!

Happy Hump Day everyone! Well, it's been a week since you've heard from me, and what a busy week it was! And, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, what a busy update we have today, as well.

First off, there's a new review of "Touched by an Alien" up at Yummy Men and Kick Ass Chicks. Check it out, leave some Alien Collective love, you know the drill.

Next up, CopperCon was awesome! Much love and tons of smootchies to my beloveds who came to see me -- Chrissy, Terese, Nicole, Lynn, Colette, Steven, Diana, and Vaughn. Per the Posse, my "Alien Tango" reading went well (it really IS all about the 'gators) and, heaven help us, they recorded it, so there could be Live: Bootleg Gini out there somewhere.

Panels were so much fun. I was on them with our own awesome Lynn Crain, as well as with other cool authors such as Weston Ochse (pronounced "Oaks"), Dani Kollin, Marsheila Rockwell, Emily Devenport, Janeen O'Kerry, Michael D'Ambrosio, and Patti Hultstrand. I was also on with non-author experts like Craig Porter, Kevin McAlonan, and Henry Vanderbilt. Met tons of aspiring authors and fans, got to hang at the pool with the Posse, ate and drank more than a lot. All in all, good info, fun times, the yap ran nonstop. (You know, routine.)

But, from the subject line, you know there's more. More for YOU. Well, if you're on Hook Me Up! there is! There were tons, and I do mean TONS, of movie posters available for the attendees, and I grabbed a bunch. Included in them are posters for Kick Ass, Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Salt, The Expendables, and many, MANY more. There are also signed bookmarks from Weston Ochse and Dani Kollin to go along with all the cool wall coverings. I haven't divided them up into Poster Packs yet, but there will be at least 2.

The contest announcement will be coming out soon, very soon. If you're not yet on Hook Me Up!, now's the time to stop dragging those heels. Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line. Do it today, so you don't miss out on the next sets of swag!

Is there more? A bit. I'm confirmed to be at RinCon 10, October 8-10, 2010 in Tucson; at LepreCon 37, May 6-8, 2011 in Tempe; and Phoenix ComicCon, Memorial Day Weekend-ish (they're still finalizing for this one) in Phoenix. That's in addition to World Fantasy Con 36, October 28-31, 2010 in Columbus, OH. Datebook and my page at BookTour.com will have updates as they become available.

So, keep your eyeballs peeled for the Next Great Poster Giveaway, and remember that no matter where I go, I'm always thinking of YOU, 'cause y'all rock.

Love,
Gini

Tango Tuesday

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know and you've undoubtedly guessed from the title of the blog post, we're focusing on "Alien Tango" today.

The Galaxy Express is featuring the most awesome cover, so head over and share your Alien Collective love about all that is the wicked cool Daniel Dos Santos artwork!

Heather Massey from TGE also has an article up at Tor.com for those of you who are interested in the science fiction versus romance versus Science Fiction Romance debate. It's a good message, and the comments so far are very interesting. (Would particularly love the male Alien Collective members to chime in on this one.)

Our own ALPHA Reader has a great "Where are they now" column that's featuring "Alien Tango" as well as some other great, upcoming releases. Head over, check it out, share what books you can't wait for!

The new "Alien Tango" freebies are in and available! Check out the Free Stuff page for details and get your requests in! (BTW, they look AWESOME, possibly more awesome than the TBAA ones, which is saying a LOT.)

Lest "Touched by an Alien" feel left out, it's still popping up all over the web. Here are some mentions to check out: Fun interview with our own Lynn Crain at Midnight Seductions; author Audra Wyatt has a good explanatory piece up about the workshop series I'm a part of; cute post up at the Random Book Girl site about her initial impressions of "Touched by an Alien" based on cover and title.

Remember that the giveaway for Amber Scott's "Play Fling" is still going on. Hit yesterday's Blah, Blah, Blah Blog post, leave a comment or a question, and you're entered to win! Also, for those of you participating in the Project Pay It Forward, don't miss the latest updates.

Speaking of winning, it's not too late to win over at The Book Addict -- not only is there a "Touched by an Alien" giveaway, but there are lots of other great giveaway chances, too! Don't miss out, head over there today!

I'd share more, but I have to get certain descriptions of certain key things from "Alien in the Family" over to awesome artist Daniel Dos Santos, so must dash. (Yeah, I DO like to tease all of you...what's your point?)

Love,
Gini

Another Gini Expose'!

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, things are still wild here in Gini Land! First up, there's yet another interview with moi, this time at Babbling About Books. I know, I know, there's a certain symmetry to my running the yap at a place that clearly loves the babbling, right? So you KNOW you've got to read it. Head on over, find out yet more interesting and obscure facts about yours truly, and show the site some Alien Collective love! Lots and lots of awesome reading matter at BAB, too...and keep the page up...more to come there soon, very soon...

Next up, I met very cool author Lynn Crain at the Desert Dreams conference, and she's said some very cool things about "Touched by an Alien" at her blog, The Many Shades of Life and Love. Head over and see what she's got -- there's some really great stuff up there.

Dark Wyrm Reads is helping boost the Brenda Novak 2010 Online Auction to benefit Diabetes Research. Check out the article, check out the blog, then hit the auction -- there's lots of tempting auction items up there, and it all goes for a great cause.

Finally, remember that the Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest is well underway. Send your answers to Week One's question to gini@ginikoch.com by Sunday, May 16, to be included in the first random prize giveaway on Monday, May 17th. Need a refresher on the prizes? Check out the Win Stuff page and know that it could all be yours...

Love,
Gini
