Releasing the Research

Happy Tuesday! Yes, it's true! It's the official release day for Alien Research! I realize that half the world seems to have gotten this book early, but for those of you who haven't, today's the day!

Haven't gotten the book yet? Check out the PRR (Pre Review Ravings) at Bibliognome to tide you over. Or whet your appetite. Or both.

Team Gini swears that any pics you take of the bookie wookies in the wild will get up onto the Sightings page, and who are we to argue, especially since they've made it all pretty again? So, if you get some shots, please send them in! Speaking of the website, Free Stuff is updated, so check it out and see what new things you can get for, yes, free.

So, what will I be doing to celebrate Alien Research's release? I'll be getting a mammogram and a bone density test. (Because my life is just that kind of exciting.) But, honestly, the mammogram especially is an important test and I do one yearly (and this year's just happens to fall on release day). One of my BFFs didn't get one for years. Her husband spotted something -- and that something was very virulent breast cancer. She's a totally positive person and quite the fighter, and it looks like she's going to beat this. However, per her and her doctors, if she'd had regular screenings, this would have been caught before it was at the terrifying level. So, please, if you have the ta-tas, go get them squished for the safety of your health. And if you love someone with ta-tas, encourage them to get a yearly mammogram. Because losing even one Member of the Alien Collective is one member too many.

Medical stuff out of the way, this weekend and next week I'll be doing fun things, and seeing some of you at them!

--Saturday, December 7, Mysterious Galaxy San Diego, CA, Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event, 3-5pm
--Sunday, December 8, Mysterious Galaxy Redondo Beach, CA, Holiday Party, 3-5pm
--Thursday, December 12, The Poisoned Pen, Scottsdale, AZ, Book Signing, 7-8:00pm

Hope everyone who celebrated had a wonderful Thanksgiving, is having a happy Hanukkah, that everyone had a great weekend, and that everyone has an even better week. See some of you in SoCal this coming weekend, and let's all be Alien Research readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Researching Winners

Happy Thursday! Well, the Gods of Random have spoken and the winners of the advanced final copies of Alien Research have been chosen. If you entered, read on and see if you were one of the lucky ones.

If you didn't enter, read on anyway, because, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, there's going to be a reason for you to continue on. Trust me. (Think: Lightning Round... ;-D)

But before then, we have a few other things going on. Head over to Slice of SciFi and see what I think of Season 2 of the Legend of Korra.

Then remember to get entered to win an Alien Research two-fer over at
Project Paranormal.

Speaking of Alien Research, check out Deathless Prose where an excerpt (the opener and first chapter) is up to whet your appetite for the bookie wookie. (Releases Dec. 3rd -- and it's still not too late to do your girl a solid and pre-order your copy, either online or directly from your bookstore of choice!)

Speaking of the website, we have updates on Free Stuff and Sightings in the Wild -- yes, it's true, Team Gini got Sightings revised BEFORE the End of Days (don't faint). There's more coming on both those pages, and others on the website, so keep the eyeballs peeled.

We're down to the last few days to fund the Winter in the City Kickstarter anthology. If you haven't added in yet, take a look -- lots of cool authors are slated for this one!

And, because this just really resonated with me for some strange reason ;-D, check out 14 Ways to Tick off a Writer over at The Penguin Press.

And now, for what you're all really waiting for, Part 1. The winners of an advanced final copy of Alien Research, as chosen by the Gods of Random:

Beth Blanchard
Marybelle Gann
Chelene Ho
MandyMe
Barbara Elness

I loved all the comments all y'all sent in your emails and in the Blog comments, and it was really hard to choose who was going to score the extra prize. However, the Special Winner prize is going to the person who went above and beyond and assigned names and full on descriptions to Christopher's Patented Glares -- Melissa Katano

NOTE FOR WINNERS: You MUST send me an email with your first & last name, full mailing address including country, and how/who you want the book personalized (name, nickname, someone else, etc.) to by Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. If I haven't heard from you by the end of the day on the 24th, the Gods of Random will demand a new sacrifice, the prize will be pulled back, and given to another entrant.

But wait...there's more. That's right, and this one's open to anyone OTHER than the 6 who just won today. Anyone, on Hook Me Up! or not, who answers this next question here, at this Blog post, is entered. There's one more copy of Alien Research, and it'll go to the person who gives the reply the Gods of Random like best to this question:

There were lots of really good ideas for which characters should get more in-depth stories about them in some way. So, you all get to vote. Pick who you'd most like to get a back, side, or extra story about (this is not a guarantee, btw, but we all know I write short stories and novellas all the time so...) from these options:

A) How Reader Met Gower
B) Angela Fiore, Teen SuperSpy
C) A Week in the Life of Malcolm Buchanan

This contest addendum is live through Sunday, Nov. 24th and the winner will be picked and announced on Monday, Nov. 25th. Be SURE that I have a way to contact you (leave your email address in your comment if at all possible), or else you'll need to monitor the Blog every day. As with the rest, yes this is open internationally, and same rules and restrictions apply, so check out the main contest post (below) for all that info.

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way! So enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend and let's be readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Holy Whirlwind, Batman!

Well, as you all know, I released my beautiful cover for "Alien in the Family" yesterday. And as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know -- wow, the internet is hopping now, and not just about the cover!

First up, we have a new wonderful review of "Touched by an Alien" over at Book Noise. Have a read, leave a comment, show the Alien Collective love!

Then, check out Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing Dark Wrym Reads and Books, According to Nicole for their take on the new cover for "Alien in the Family".

Now, head on over to 1st Turning Point and check out my latest article, Twitter Right. A lot of you use Twitter, and use it well, so please add any comments or suggestions you might have!

Reminder that my interview over at I Smell Sheep is still going strong, as is the chance to enter to win the "Sheeped by an Alien" t-shirt, so if you haven't hit the interview to get a chance to win, rectify that omission now!

Not enough? Well, if you want to promote the new "Alien in the Family" cover, or just look at it more up close and personal, send me an email and we'll send it right over so you can. Want more? "Alien in the Family" avatars and such will be up on the Free Stuff page soon!

Still not enough? Well...it'll have to be...'cause tomorrow is Friday, and we all know what Friday is, right? That's right -- it's the start of the "Alien Tango" ARC Giveaway, for Hook Me Up! only! What? You're not on Hook Me Up! yet? You don't want to win the ARC of "Alien Tango" along with a ton of other totally awesome goodies? What's wrong with you? Oh, wait...you DO want to win? Then sign up for Hook Me Up! Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and do it today, 'cause Friday's coming up fast!

Love,
Gini

Vamping it Up on a Tuesday

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, today is "here's all the stuff I forgot to tell you about on Monday" day!

First off, there's another awesome review of "Touched by an Alien" over at The Romance Junkies. Check it out!

Next up, this made me laugh, so I figure it'll make y'all laugh too. See what's for sale at eBay, snicker quietly and/or shake your heads, and then remember that you can get those and more FOR FREE (well, for postage) from my Free Stuff page.

But I know that's not really what y'all are reading this blog for, at least, not THIS week. You're reading it to find out what's coming next. (Hint: All the paranormal lovers out there -- pay attention.) And to be able to enter to win my fab Vamp Pack, which is the featured Swag Pack of the Day today.

Oh, I'd love to tell you, of course. And the next blog post WILL tell you. But unless you're on Hook Me Up!, you won't have a chance to win. Anything. At all. So, why not save yourself that pain and agony and join up? Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and you'll be in. Need more incentive? Check out my Win Stuff page to see what you could be winning.

Love,
Gini

One Last Thing Before I Go...

Well, as if y'all didn't know, I leave tomorrow for Comic-Con (wait for it...once more...with feeling...AS a PROFESSIONAL!). So, we're going to (mostly) radio silence while I'm gone.

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, I'll check in as I can, but the easiest way to do that will be via Twitter, so if you're not yet following me there and you want the Comic-Con & vacation updates as they happen, now's the time. Plus, my 300 Twitter followers contest is still going on too, so you can get a double! Follow @GiniKoch.

Where it won't be silent but WILL be fun whilst I'm gone is at The Galaxy Express. Check out the Parallel Universe promo and remember -- July 20th is when it starts and when my Alien Diversity Panel will go live. Comic-Con won't have started yet, so I'm hoping to check in if I'm able to, so be sure to leave questions or comments!

We've already gotten more requests for more swag at The Alien Depot and Team Gini hopped right on it, so the Depot is already revamped! Check it out, browse the now-considerably-more merchandise, enjoy yourselves! And remember, there's still plenty of freebie swag on the Free Stuff page, too!

Much love and thanks to all who showed up at my author workshop and book signing Wed. night, and particular love and smootchies to those Hook Me Up! subscribers, aka the Most Dedicated of the Alien Collective, who were there, too (you know who you are, my beloveds!). It was a great turn out and I enjoyed running the yap (I know, when don't I?), and much chocolate and good times were had by all!

While I won't be there 'cause I'll be at Comic-Con (insert standard addendum here), our own Amber Scott will be doing her author workshop and signing (for "Play Fling") at the same bat time and same bat channel next week. Amber's a fun speaker, so if you enjoyed mine, or missed mine, make it to hers!

Writers Workshop Wednesdays
Borders Scottsdale Waterfront
7:00 p.m., July 21
7135 East Camelback Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
(Note for AZ folks -- this is at the Waterfront Borders in Scottsdale, NOT the Biltmore Borders in Phoenix)

Speaking of conferences and signings and all that jazz, my next conference is CopperCon 30. I'm doing a lot of panels, a book signing, and a reading...from "Alien Tango". (Yes, so that would be a preview BEFORE any ARCs are available...) We already have some awesome Hook Me Up! and Alien Collective members coming (waves with excitement) and to sweeten the pot for those of you on the fence, I'm going to be throwing a small party for Alien Collective members only. In addition to the fun just hanging out together will entail, there will also be special swag there. Oh sure, there will be Free Stuff swag...but there will also be...Depot Swag. So, if you can make it, you don't want to miss it!

I will, however, miss all of you while I'm gone. Leave comments on the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog, send Tweets, send emails, etc. I should get 'em all and will try to reply in a semi-prompt manner. Everyone have a great rest of July, and until August, peace out, li'l gangstahs!

Love,
Gini

Tango Tuesday

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know and you've undoubtedly guessed from the title of the blog post, we're focusing on "Alien Tango" today.

The Galaxy Express is featuring the most awesome cover, so head over and share your Alien Collective love about all that is the wicked cool Daniel Dos Santos artwork!

Heather Massey from TGE also has an article up at Tor.com for those of you who are interested in the science fiction versus romance versus Science Fiction Romance debate. It's a good message, and the comments so far are very interesting. (Would particularly love the male Alien Collective members to chime in on this one.)

Our own ALPHA Reader has a great "Where are they now" column that's featuring "Alien Tango" as well as some other great, upcoming releases. Head over, check it out, share what books you can't wait for!

The new "Alien Tango" freebies are in and available! Check out the Free Stuff page for details and get your requests in! (BTW, they look AWESOME, possibly more awesome than the TBAA ones, which is saying a LOT.)

Lest "Touched by an Alien" feel left out, it's still popping up all over the web. Here are some mentions to check out: Fun interview with our own Lynn Crain at Midnight Seductions; author Audra Wyatt has a good explanatory piece up about the workshop series I'm a part of; cute post up at the Random Book Girl site about her initial impressions of "Touched by an Alien" based on cover and title.

Remember that the giveaway for Amber Scott's "Play Fling" is still going on. Hit yesterday's Blah, Blah, Blah Blog post, leave a comment or a question, and you're entered to win! Also, for those of you participating in the Project Pay It Forward, don't miss the latest updates.

Speaking of winning, it's not too late to win over at The Book Addict -- not only is there a "Touched by an Alien" giveaway, but there are lots of other great giveaway chances, too! Don't miss out, head over there today!

I'd share more, but I have to get certain descriptions of certain key things from "Alien in the Family" over to awesome artist Daniel Dos Santos, so must dash. (Yeah, I DO like to tease all of you...what's your point?)

Love,
Gini

Keepin' it Collective

Whassup, Dawgs?

I know. I sound so "street" when I say that. ;-D

Hope everyone has something great on their agenda this weekend. But try to fit in what we've got for you here, too! As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, every site we're hitting today is owned and operated by a member of the Alien Collective.

First up, there's a new review of "Touched by an Alien" up by our newest member of the Alien Collective. Check out what The Book Addict didn't want to read, and why she's glad she did, and show some Collective love while you're there! You'll want to mark her site, too...I hear there's a blogiversary coming that's going to be quite the party!

Speaking of reviews, See Michelle Read has one, too! Check it out, leave some Collective love, you know the drill!

Keeping it all in the Collective, check out the latest on Project Pay It Forward over at The Amber Scott Project. You know the drill -- read, leave Collective love, leap to the next!

Didn't sign up for Hook Me Up! in time to enter into the LAST week of the Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest? Bummer. But head over to The Life & Travels of Sullivan McPig and check out the Swag in Action anyway! (Sully goes to a lot more exciting places than I do, I must say.) Then get on it and join Hook Me Up! so you never miss out on anything else ever again! Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and breathe easy -- you won't miss a thing.

BTW, to cover what seems to be a certain rather sweet and touching misconception many of you seem to have -- the swag is there for YOU. Yes, I WANT to send out whatever your fuzzy li'l gansta hearts desire from the Free Stuff page. I didn't make it for me, I made it for all of you, my beloved Alien Collective. No need to feel greedy, demanding, or spoiled. (Well, okay, spoiled is fine.) You want? You ask. You get. (I'd say that in Latin but my classical education only went so far...to the frats, actually, but hey, it was farther than my dorm room...)

Anyway, spread the Alien love, have a wonderful weekend, and keep it Collective!

Love,
Gini

Hopping All Over

Happy Hump Day! Summer's here, and the livin' is easy. Or at least hot. Trust me, I'm here in Hell's Orientation Area where we're supposed to hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit by the weekend. Hot is now my operative word!

But enough on the heat, let's hop into today's news! As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we've got "Touched by an Alien" sightings all over the web.

First up, check out the Teaser Tuesday post (yeah, okay, so I'm a day late and probably a dollar short...but who's counting?) at Rabid Reader. Then head over to The Amber Scott Project and see what's happening with the latest on Project Pay it Forward. After that, jump over to Goodreads, where I've finally got a presence (thanks to Nicole demanding I get said presence...hey, I can be taught!). If you're also on Goodreads, please fan and friend me...my friends list is even smaller than my fans list there (so aloooooone). Finally, if you didn't hit the "Touched by an Alien" review over at Queen of the Frozen North, check out her five reasons to read "Touched by an Alien" and see if you agree with them, or have others to add!

New to the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog and the Alien Collective and want to get all caught up, but don't feel like reading every single blog post? (What's wrong with you?) Bookmark my page at BookTour.com. It's got all my reviews and interviews and more listed, as well as my "tour dates". Want to find out what conferences I'll be attending? My Datebook page now has my tour listings link from BookTour.com on it, too. Between the two, you'll know where I am at any given moment! (Um, usually here, but many times I'm there, too.)

Not on Hook Me Up! yet? What are you waiting for? This is the last week of the Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest...but that doesn't mean that there aren't more contests coming, and if you're on Hook Me Up! you know about them first and get special consideration other members of the Alien Collective don't. Check out the Win Stuff page for what you're missing. Our Week Three winner, Brooke Nelissen, chose the $10 iTunes gift card. What will the Week Four winner choose? Tune in Monday to find out. And sign up on Hook Me Up! today (send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line) so you don't miss out on anything else!

Website updates: New freebies are in and listed on Free Stuff and more are coming soon; more reviews are up on the Accolades page; and the Goodreads widget is up on the Cool Links page for ease of adding "Touched by an Alien" to your Goodreads shelf if it's not already there.

That's it for today, but don't worry. There's more on the horizon, so stay tuned!

Alien-Filled Friday

It's been a roller coaster ride this week here in Gini Land, and it's not over yet!

First up, As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, I insinuated in yesterday's blog, and KB flat out said at the start of yesterday's interview, Babbling About Books has a review of "Touched by an Alien" large and in charge. Head over and show BAB some Alien Collective love! And if you missed yesterday's interview, well, it's not too late to catch up right now.

Speaking of catching up, it's time to check in with The Amber Scott Project about the current status of Project Pay It Forward. Check out the progress and let Amber know what you think of the Project!

Next up, it's preview time at Dark Wyrm Reads. We have it from the Dark Wyrm himself that another review of "Touched by an Alien" will be live there this coming Monday, as well as some other reviews coming. Check it out and bookmark the site, we'll be back there next week!

Last but in no way least, Tempting Persephone's lovely owner let me know some exciting news: "Touched by an Alien" is one of Booklist's top 10 adult SF/Fantasy books of 2010! Check it out...I still can't quite believe it's true, but there it is, all in print and everything!

Reminder time:

Week One's Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest ends on Sunday. Send the answer to the question to gini@ginikoch.com by Sunday, May 16. Winner and Week Two's question will be announced separately on Monday, May 17. Check out the Win Stuff page for all the prizes you could win...as long as you enter!

Fugly Fighting for a Cause

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, and as you may already know as well, author Brenda Novak does a yearly auction benefiting diabetes research. And this year I have a donation in the mix as well -- and it just went up! Head on over to the 2010 Online Auction to benefit Diabetes Research and check out the great stuff there, including a Fight the Fuglies Starter Kit. It's item #1793487, located in the Gift Baskets and Collections section.

We've also got another Sighting in the Wild up, and, if you check out either the Bookstore or Deathless Prose pages and scroll down a bit on each, you'll see what, so far, no one else has yet to see. And, the bookplates are in! Check out Free Stuff and see what all you can get for the price of a stamp or the click of a mouse!

Speaking of free, ALPHA Reader's "Touched by an Alien" giveaway goes through May 20th, and That's QUEEEN Bitch to You's "Touched by an Alien" giveaway goes through May 24th.

And of course, the Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest is rolling. All Hook Me Up! subscribers, remember to send your answer to Week One's question to me -- gini@ginikoch.com -- by Sunday, May 16, for your chance to win!

More to come, so as always, watch this space!

So Much To Choose From...

...Do 'Em All!

Happy Friday! As we head into another fabulous weekend and as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we have more going on in Gini Land. First up, The Galaxy Express has a great piece on humor in science fiction/science fiction romance. Head on over, have a read, and leave a comment, because, clearly, if you're part of the Alien Collective, you appreciate the funny and undoubtedly have views about it. (Y'all had views about the Badge of Honor, now, didn't you?)

Our own Amber Scott has the latest on the status of Project Pay It Forward up at The Amber Scott Project. Head over, show her blog some Alien Collective love, see what's happening so far with the copies of "Touched by an Alien" heading out on their journeys, and, for those of you doing similar, share what's been happening for you, too!

Remember that the "Haunting Beauty" giveaway runs through Sunday, so if you haven't hit yesterday's Blah, Blah, Blah Blog interview with Erin Quinn and left a message, get one up there, pronto, so you can be entered to win. Yes, international readers, this means you, too.

Another reminder -- our own ALPHA Reader's "Touched by an Alien" giveaway is still open as well. Head over and leave a comment, and send over those who haven't read "Touched by an Alien" yet, so they can sign up for a chance to win, too!

Finally, remember to check out the Free Stuff page to see what you might want to get. Some quantities are really limited (cover flats of "Touched by an Alien" in particular), so if you think you want one, send an email right away to gini@ginikoch.com and get yours reserved. All details are now on the Free Stuff page.

By the way -- if you're going to be at Comic-Con in San Diego, California this year, drop me a line at gini@ginikoch.com so we can coordinate a meet-up! Same again if you'll be hitting CopperCon30 in Mesa, Arizona. Or World Fantasy Con in Columbus, Ohio. (Yeah, I'm gonna be a busy girl.)

Still not on Hook Me Up!? Why not? The Hook Me Up! Exclusive contest starts next week. So, send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line so you can be on the list and entered into the contest. You'll be glad you did!

Love,
Gini

We Have Winner Liftoff!

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we've finally achieved a respectable majority vote on the Alien Collective Badge of Honor. *drum roll, please...*

Option 2 is the big winnah!

(Option 3 lovers: the support group is in place.)

Check out the Free Stuff page over the next few days to get access to the Badge as well as other avatars and freebies...and, now that we have an official Badge selection, more will be coming (just as soon as we at Team Gini get them printed up and ready.)

In other website news, the Accolades page is up and running -- keep the cards and letters coming! Remember, Sightings in the Wild is always looking for new pics of "Touched by an Alien" in its various natural habitats. And if you haven't read it yet, we have a great Spotlight interview with author Deborah LeBlanc.

Coming Thursday will be the Blah, Blah, Blah interview with author Erin Quinn, along with a giveaway, so you won't want to miss it!

Another Friday = More Yap

Happy Friday to one and all! As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, it's a cheerful, and busy, Friday over here in Gini Land! Let's get right to it!

The Yap Runneth Again, over at 1st Turning Point, where authors teach other authors. See what I have to say about Generating the All-Important Buzz and feel free to offer up any tips yourselves.

After you check that out, race on over to The Amber Scott Project where she's got the P.P.I.F. Party (Project Pay it Forward) on the launch pad. See what's happening with the copies of "Touched by an Alien" that are heading out into the world. And, for those of you who've already joined in, please share what you've done with the copy/s you've sent out into the wild. This is such an amazing and awesome thing -- I'm thrilled with the idea itself, and beside myself that "Touched by an Alien" was chosen to be the inaugural book, so please share some Alien Collective love and all your various stories!

But wait, there's more. The polls are still open on the official Badge of Honor for the Alien Collective and we need all your votes coming in! Option 2 is only slightly ahead of Option 3 this morning, so if you love one more than the other (or just like one more than the other), please cast your vote ASAP. Do it on the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog, on my Facebook Fan Page (Hairspray and Rock 'n' Roll), or by sending me an e-mail (gini@ginikoch.com). Because we're in a dead heat, polls will likely stay open throughout the weekend, but the sooner you vote and we have a clear winner, the sooner I can announce the NEXT cool stuff coming down the pike. So, see? There's some incentive for you!

Haven't checked out the latest reviews? Well, what are you waiting for? Give Hanging with Bells some Alien Collective love (and, you know, while you're there, she puts up some LOVELY shots of hunks on a very regular basis...just saying'...), and give the DAW Books Discussion on "Touched by an Alien" some love and support.

And that's not all! Check out the Bookstore for an awesome quote about "Touched by an Alien" from my new most favorite bookseller. Then, after refreshing your pages (trust me, if you can't see what I'm saying, refreshing is your friend), check out the two NEW pages -- Accolades and Free Stuff. Not much there yet, you say? Well, just wait...we're going to be busy at Team Gini, and those pages are going to be filled with stuff, and that soon!

Not on Hook Me Up! yet? You just don't want to have a shot at exclusive contests, offers, and info? Well, for those who DO, just send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and you'll be all set. And you want to do it soon...'cause the Hook Me Up! only contest is just around the corner.

There's more, so much more, but I'm going to make you wait until next week for it, just 'cause I can.

Love,
Gini
