It's Release Day!

Happy Camp Alien release day! I'm heading out for Book Tour at the end of the week (more on that later) but there's much going on, starting with what all y'all have been waiting for -- Camp Alien is here!

And it's here in style! Barnes and Noble chose it as one of their top picks for May! Check out what they said and then see what Pearls Cast Before a McPig, Live to Read, Under the Covers, and Night Owl Reviews also thought of it!

Come see the me to get your copies of Camp Alien signed! I'll be at the Mysterious Galaxy Birthday Bash on Saturday, May 7. I'll be at the store by 2pm, because I'll be interviewed live by the geektitude podcast at 2:30. For a preview of what's to come, check out geektitude epidsode 28 that has an interview with MG owner and all around cool chick, Maryelizabeth Yturralde. Happy Thursday!

I know, I know -- two months of literal silence, and now you're hearing from me regularly again. Well, there's just a lot going on right now. Though, trust me, the Cone of Silence is going to descend again soon. But it's not fully covering me yet, so let's get to things, shall we? We shall!

Heading to the movies this weekend? Check out my review of Zootopia over at Slice of SciFi and see if it's right for you. Speaking of Slice, we're branching out and adding a sister site, Pop Culture Geeks. Which means that I and the other reviewers just got to add a whole lot of other movies into our reviewing queues.

So, check out the sleek new site and my reviews for Hail, Caesar!, Zoolander 2, Risen, and Race. And, as with Slice, if you agree, disagree, or want to discuss the movies, join in the conversation over at PCG!

After pop culture fun, it's time for some science! The New York Times shares that gravitational waves have been detected that confirm Einstein's theory. Per Earth/Sky there's also good evidence for a ninth planet -- no, not poor Pluto, but one that sounds quite a lot like what H.P. Lovecraft said was out there. And Space.com shares what Kitty and Company already know -- that our universe is just one of many.

Reminder that the Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 5 is going on right now. As of Day Three of the Kickstarter I have only one tuckerization left, so if you want to be a character in my Steampunk Alien series and get a role in "The Problem With Poofs", head over now. As you may know, I hit Motley Crue's last tour. There are a lot of pics shared by Talking Stick Arena including a few of mine! So, if you didn't get to see the All Bad Things tour, take a look -- it was pretty darned awesome.

Release Week Catch Up

Happy Friday! Well, it's been a busy release week for Alien in Chief! And I'm behind (on everything, but who's counting?) and about to leave for the out of town portions of book tour, so let's get caught up, shall we? We shall!

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had wonderful weeks and are looking forward to wonderful weekends, extra long ones for those celebrating Labor Day. But before we head off for that, there's some news, and a new contest, so let's get to it all shall we? We shall!

This story is the next adventure for Sherlock and John, after the events of "All the Single Ladies" in Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets.

We're also down to the last few days to support the Alien Artifacts and Were- Anthologies Kickstarter. It's Kickstarter, Re-Release, and Contest Time!

Happy Late Monday and Early Tuesday! I know, I know, I've been silent for AGES. Well, there was a lot going on, writer-wise, in particular, getting Alien in Chief ready to go to press (which involved a lot of very fast stuff on the part of me, the awesome editor, the copy editor, and the managing editor over at DAW). But most of that madness is done...for a few days, anyway. And there is SO MUCH GOING ON that I have to get all y'all caught up or you'll miss it. And we would not want that!

First up, there's a new Kickstarter in town, from Zombies Need Brains. This one is for not one but two anthologies -- Alien Artifacts and WERE-. I'll have stories in both of them. I also had tuckerizations available for both, but they sold out in 4 days. There are some awesome tuckerizations still available (so far), just not mine. Excellent authors Jean Marie Ward, Patricia Bray, and Danielle Ackley-McPhail still have tuckers left, so if you want to be immortalized as a were-something or its kill or an alien somethingorother, don't wait -- head over now!


Whether you're getting a tuckerization or just the anthologies, my story for Alien Artifacts will be an Alien series short, set right after Universal Alien. My story for WERE- is not going to be set in any of my current universes. Both anthologies are loaded with awesome authors, and once the Kickstarter funds, both will open to submissions, meaning all the aspiring authors out there should be getting their pieces ready to submit as well (since we're very close to funding right now).

Speaking of Zombies Need Brains, Temporally Out of Order is available for pre-order now! It features "Alien Time Warp", an Alien series short that takes place during Alien Separation. Trust me, you want this one, so get it ordered today! Pre-order is for ebook only right now, but trade paperback versions are coming, too.

Speaking of anthologies you want, I'm in the awesome X-Files: Trust No One anthology that's out now from IDW. One small issue -- they've spelled my name wrong on the back cover. So, um, hey, um, I'm also apparently now Gini Loch, a proud descendant of the Loch Ness Monster. Or somesuch. At any rate, ask for the book, not me, by name and get your copy today! Every story in here has been approved by Chris Carter himself as being canon for the X-Files (yes! I wrote X-Files canon!), so check out all the coolness -- our truths are out there!

Speaking of out there, Book Two of the Martian Alliance Chronicles, Three Card Monte, releases officially tomorrow, August 18th (you know, when some of you will see this LOL). Get your copy from Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble. And speaking of typos, Amazon may be listing it as Book One, but it's definitely Book Two and the error should be fixed soon. You can also get the real Book One, the Royal Scam, at Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble. Book Three, A Bug's Life, is coming in September, so get caught up or reacquainted with the crew of the Hummingbird now!

Speaking of pre-orders, it's never too early to pre-order both Alien in Chief (coming in December) and Camp Alien (coming in May 2016). Pre-orders matter greatly to bookstores and publishers, especially if we have hopes of seeing more of Kitty's adventures past Book 15. I mean, I do, and I hope you guys do, too. And pre-orders show the publisher that the audience is still eager, so, hint, hint, beg, beg, and all that authorly pre-orderly jazz. So pre-order from your favorite bookstore, a bookstore that I'll be doing a signing at in December, or your favorite online retailer!

Also coming later this month will be my novella, A Study in Starlets, my follow-up to "All The Single Ladies" featured in the Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets anthology. Cover and release date information still to come, but it'll be here before you know it.

There are three of us doing novellas based on our characters from Baker Streets, and all three novellas will be collected into one volume -- alt. Sherlock Holmes: New Visions of the Great Detective. It's available for pre-order from Amazon right now, hint, hint.

And now for some science! Per CNN, NASA has found Earth's bigger, older cousin.  So exciting -- any guesses for who might already be living there? I have some. Heh.

At the Mysterious Galaxy Booth

 I'm thrilled to announce that I sold out of 9 titles while at the show, which is a personal best. Mysterious Galaxy is all restocked though, so if that's your bookstore of choice, never fear, the bookie wookies are back there now.

Got to meet so many fans, including a Star Fleet Admiral, and see friends I only get to see at the con, too. Had a lovely dinner at awesome author Henry Hertz's lovely home with Rachel Caine and David Brin. Yeah, I geeked out a tad.

My panel, Science Fiction and Sex, got both a great write up at Tor.com but also got recorded for all to see and hear over at YouTube. It was great fun and my fellow panelists were all made of awesome.

Got to visit my fave artists there -- Gary Montalbano, David's Doodles, Robert Roach, and Joe Weatherly -- as well as my beloved Museum of Robots for more cool jewelry and gorgeous steampunk items. And, I came back with goodies. :-D Signed goodies.

Some Exciting Announcements

Happy Tuesday! Well, I'm about to head off for San Diego Comic-Con but before I leave I have some cool stuff to share with all y'all. So let's leap right into it shall we? We shall!

First up, I have two signings in the Mysterious Galaxy Booth #1119, where I'll be signing Alien Separation and all the other bookie wookies, too. Check out their full schedule, which lists all the awesome authors who will be there throughout the con. BTW, if you can't make the con, they normally have all the authors sign stock, so you can still order from MG and get signed books, even if you can't be at the con itself.

If you are at the con, don't forget to come to my panel -- Science Fiction and Sex, on Friday, July 10th, 11:30-12:30, room 24ABC. Signing under the sails from 1-1:30pm.

Then, start saving your money. Why? Because Westercon 70 will be in Tempe, AZ over the July 4th weekend, 2017. Why do we care about something so far in the future? Because I'm going to be the Local Author Guest of Honor, that's why! And I want as many of the Alien Collective there with me to celebrate! The con coordinator, aka She Who Must Be Obeyed, is our own marvelous Dee Astell, so you know the event is going to be absolutely awesome. This is one you won't want to miss, and with this much lead time, there's no excuse TO miss! I'll be giving you details as we get them, but make your plans now to see the me in 2017!

Now for something a little less far in the future. Check out the new cover for the re-release of The Royal Scam, Martian Alliance Chronicles 1 over at my Premieres page. Then head over to Amazon or Smashwords to pre-order. (Yes, it'll be available at Barnes and Noble, too; their pre-ordering is wonky ergo, no pre-orders there.) It's releasing on Tuesday, July 21st, with the reissue of Three Card Monte coming in August, and the new third installment, A Bug's Life, coming in September.

This collection will feature my novella, "A Study In Starlets", which is the next adventure featuring my characters from "All the Single Ladies", my short story in the Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets anthology.
