Where In the World is Gini? March Edition

Happy First of March!

It's been brought to my attention that I've neglected the Datebook and so all y'all have no idea where to find me in the upcoming months. So, seeing as I'm in the midst of the usual deadline madness and more (there's always more), let's see where I shall be this month.

March 12 and 13, Tucson Festival of Books -- I'm not a panelist this year but I am moderating the Kick-Ass Women of Sci-Fi Panel on Saturday, March 12, from 2:30-3:30pm, in Optical Sciences Room 410. This panel features awesome authors Yvonne Navarro, Jeffe Kenndey, Beth Cato, and Judith Tarr and I expect it to be epic. The rest of the time I'll be at Booth 108 with a ton of other awesome authors selling all the bookie wookies including Alien in Chief, The X-Files: Trust No One, Alliance Rising, and more! Museum of Robots will be there with me, and they'll have the first of their Gini Koch line to show off along with the rest of their awesome things, so if you're there, you'll be among the very first to see what's coming.

And, if you come to Booth 108 and buy anything (like, you know, one or more of the awesome books I and the many other awesome authors have for sale) you'll be getting a cool totebag, featuring Mous-Mous, which is our "booth bag" for the Festival. You know you want it, so come on down to one of the biggest book festivals in the country!

My next forays out of the Casa will be in May for Book Tour for Camp Alien and other related pursuits, and I'll have details on that for all y'all coming up in the nearish future.


ALSO, this month I'm also in the latest Kickstarter coming from UFO Press -- Unidentified Funny Objects 5, which just went live today. And, I have tuckerizations galore, including one for the cover. Yes! My story incorporates the cover image and it's gonna be so much fun. At this moment, though, only 2 of my tuckerizations are left, so if you want to get into my story, "The Problem With Poofs" (which is set in my Steampunk Alien Universe), head over right now. Even if you're not going to have your "name in lights", definitely check out this Kickstarter and get in while the getting's good. It'll be another really fun and funny anthology from a wonderful small press that I know all y'all will enjoy.

It's Kickstarter, Re-Release, and Contest Time!

Happy Late Monday and Early Tuesday! I know, I know, I've been silent for AGES. Well, there was a lot going on, writer-wise, in particular, getting Alien in Chief ready to go to press (which involved a lot of very fast stuff on the part of me, the awesome editor, the copy editor, and the managing editor over at DAW). But most of that madness is done...for a few days, anyway. And there is SO MUCH GOING ON that I have to get all y'all caught up or you'll miss it. And we would not want that!

First up, there's a new Kickstarter in town, from Zombies Need Brains. This one is for not one but two anthologies -- Alien Artifacts and WERE-. I'll have stories in both of them. I also had tuckerizations available for both, but they sold out in 4 days. There are some awesome tuckerizations still available (so far), just not mine. Excellent authors Jean Marie Ward, Patricia Bray, and Danielle Ackley-McPhail still have tuckers left, so if you want to be immortalized as a were-something or its kill or an alien somethingorother, don't wait -- head over now!


Whether you're getting a tuckerization or just the anthologies, my story for Alien Artifacts will be an Alien series short, set right after Universal Alien. My story for WERE- is not going to be set in any of my current universes. Both anthologies are loaded with awesome authors, and once the Kickstarter funds, both will open to submissions, meaning all the aspiring authors out there should be getting their pieces ready to submit as well (since we're very close to funding right now).

Speaking of Zombies Need Brains, Temporally Out of Order is available for pre-order now! It features "Alien Time Warp", an Alien series short that takes place during Alien Separation. Trust me, you want this one, so get it ordered today! Pre-order is for ebook only right now, but trade paperback versions are coming, too.

Speaking of anthologies you want, I'm in the awesome X-Files: Trust No One anthology that's out now from IDW. One small issue -- they've spelled my name wrong on the back cover. So, um, hey, um, I'm also apparently now Gini Loch, a proud descendant of the Loch Ness Monster. Or somesuch. At any rate, ask for the book, not me, by name and get your copy today! Every story in here has been approved by Chris Carter himself as being canon for the X-Files (yes! I wrote X-Files canon!), so check out all the coolness -- our truths are out there!

Speaking of out there, Book Two of the Martian Alliance Chronicles, Three Card Monte, releases officially tomorrow, August 18th (you know, when some of you will see this LOL). Get your copy from Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble. And speaking of typos, Amazon may be listing it as Book One, but it's definitely Book Two and the error should be fixed soon. You can also get the real Book One, the Royal Scam, at Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble. Book Three, A Bug's Life, is coming in September, so get caught up or reacquainted with the crew of the Hummingbird now!

Speaking of pre-orders, it's never too early to pre-order both Alien in Chief (coming in December) and Camp Alien (coming in May 2016). Pre-orders matter greatly to bookstores and publishers, especially if we have hopes of seeing more of Kitty's adventures past Book 15. I mean, I do, and I hope you guys do, too. And pre-orders show the publisher that the audience is still eager, so, hint, hint, beg, beg, and all that authorly pre-orderly jazz. So pre-order from your favorite bookstore, a bookstore that I'll be doing a signing at in December, or your favorite online retailer!

Also coming later this month will be my novella, A Study in Starlets, my follow-up to "All The Single Ladies" featured in the Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets anthology. Cover and release date information still to come, but it'll be here before you know it.

There are three of us doing novellas based on our characters from Baker Streets, and all three novellas will be collected into one volume -- alt. Sherlock Holmes: New Visions of the Great Detective. It's available for pre-order from Amazon right now, hint, hint.

And now for some science! Per CNN, NASA has found Earth's bigger, older cousin.  So exciting -- any guesses for who might already be living there? I have some. Heh.

At the Mysterious Galaxy Booth

 I'm thrilled to announce that I sold out of 9 titles while at the show, which is a personal best. Mysterious Galaxy is all restocked though, so if that's your bookstore of choice, never fear, the bookie wookies are back there now.

Got to meet so many fans, including a Star Fleet Admiral, and see friends I only get to see at the con, too. Had a lovely dinner at awesome author Henry Hertz's lovely home with Rachel Caine and David Brin. Yeah, I geeked out a tad.

My panel, Science Fiction and Sex, got both a great write up at Tor.com but also got recorded for all to see and hear over at YouTube. It was great fun and my fellow panelists were all made of awesome.

Got to visit my fave artists there -- Gary Montalbano, David's Doodles, Robert Roach, and Joe Weatherly -- as well as my beloved Museum of Robots for more cool jewelry and gorgeous steampunk items. And, I came back with goodies. :-D Signed goodies.

Celebrating Everything

Don't faint but...I'm still here! What were the odds? I mean, I went to radio silence for most of June (three major deadlines, one of which is still outstanding is why), but I was always thinking of all of you. Cross my heart and hope to write 10,000 words a day.

While much has been going on like awesome SCOTUS decisions that have been a long time in coming (Reader, Gower, and all the A-Cs are still celebrating, and ACE is very proud of his penguins), I've been mostly head's down getting those deadline projects written before I leave for San Diego Comic-Con next week. BUT, since several Members of the Alien Collective have sent me notes inquiring as to whether I'm alive (so far, yes, and doing my best to stay that way), going to SDCC (absolutely), and if anything else is happening (of course it is), that I figured I'd better take a mo to catch all y'all up on all the things.

First off, my official schedule for San Diego Comic-Con is:

See how Mother Nature Network confirms things about black holes that Algar has already told us, check out I Love Nature to hear about what scientists have recorded planets saying, see what Business Insider has to say about an erupting black hole that likely signals that Algar's people are hot on his trail, The Spirit Science lets a well known physicist confirm all that we know about the multiverse, and Fusion shares that we might need to rally the troops to make Pluto an official planet again, but it's looking good. Hey, we've accomplished quite a lot recently so what's one more battle for good ol' Pluto?

For those wondering what to do that would make me and every other author delirious with joy, Inkygirl has some great suggestions. And, surprising no one in the Casa, Brain Decoder shares that creativity and crazy are probably closely linked. What WERE the odds? And finally, for those who don't understand my DAILY STRUGGLE, Playboy explains it all for you. In totally safe for work words and pictures, too.

Last but not least, on Father's Day, Duncan and Andrea Rittschof, two Members of the Alien Collective in Very Good Standing, had their car stolen. Yay that the police found earlier this week, but it's their only form of transportation, the expenses to repair may be quite high -- and they're still determining if it can be repaired or not -- and it's already over 100 every day here in Phoenix. Awesome editor and author Tim Marquitz started a GoFundMe campaign for them, so if you're able to, even just a little, please help out.

BTW, a belated Happy Canada Day to all Canadian Members of the Alien Collective! And an even more belated Happy Father's Day to all dads, uncles, brothers, grandfathers, stepdads, and anyone else doing the dad role. Hope that you were spoiled rotten and treated well and that this year everyone remembered that while ties are nice, someone else mowing the lawn is better.

Playing Catchup

Happy Monday! I know, I know, it's been literally ages since you've heard from me. My only excuse is that I have an absolute tonnage of deadlines and they're requiring a lot of focus. (Apparently editors really like your stuff turned in in at least a semi-timely manner -- who knew?) So, it's lots of updates or it's lots of writing, and I think I know how we all vote. However, lots has been going on, so let's get all caught up so that I can go back into the writing cave and not come out again until I see my shadow. Or something like that.

First up, it's official! I'll be a presenting author at Phoenix Comicon again this year! The con runs from Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, May 31. I'll be on panels and in the exhibit hall in Author's Alley. I'll be doing a prize in conjunction with the Amazing Wyked Writers. I'll also be doing my usual Evening Erotica event and also a Food With Fans event during the con. When and where and what times and all that jazz is still up in the air, but as soon as I have my schedule you'll hear from me about it (pinky swear).

Speaking of in-person event, Phoenix Comicon falls right in the middle of my book tour supporting Alien Separation. The chicklet is also graduating from law school during this time. Because it's a lot more exciting if everything's going on at once! So, I've got my standard book tour stops, but despite plans (and pleas from some of you) I'm not adding on any more stops this time, because I don't think my brain can handle it.

Hump Day Catch Up

Happy Hump Day! Hope everyone had a great week and weekend last week and that this week's going swimmingly, too! Tucson Festival of Books was fantastic -- I had wonderful panels with awesome authors Dennis McKiernan, Gail Carriger, Erin Quinn, and Cynthia Garner, plus got to see many of the Alien Collective -- but it does take a lot out of a person, and then there was all the catching up and such, and basically, the time flew. However, we have a lot that's going on, so let's get all caught up, shall we? We shall!

First up, the Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 4 is halfway through, but we're only a little over halfway funded, too. This makes me sad, because this is going to be another great collection, and there are still a ton of cool levels that you can support in order to get another awesome humor collection created. If you haven't looked, take a gander right now. And remember, I still have one tuckerization left, meaning there's one more chance to get into an Alien series short story (and the related stories that come after)!
