Al...Most...There...

Happy Monday! Well, the release of Alien in Chief is almost here and with it my signing at the Poisoned Pen tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7pm. For those who can't make it in person, the LiveStream will be going on, so join in with Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing around the world and come see the me in person or virtually!

And we have some reviews for Alien in Chief in, too! See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig and boeklogboek both thought of it! And, if you want a teaser before the main event, check out the prologue and first chapter at my Deathless Prose page, and then hit the Page 69 Test to see what's on that page in the book! And Tor.com has a nice listing of all the upcoming December releases!

That's it for today, but more's on the way before I leave for the out of town portions of book tour. So, enjoy the start of your weeks, see some of you in person or virtually tomorrow, and let's be Alien in Chief readers out there!

Love,
Gini

So Much Goin' On (Like Winning)

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great week last week and an even better weekend. We have a lot going on, starting with my leaving for Book Tour and other events very soon, so let's get to everything...including something you've all been waiting for!

First up, a reminder of where I'll be this month and next, particularly because once I head out later this week, I'm going to be very silent on HMU/the Blog because I'll be traveling, signing, running my yap, and more. Remember that you can pre-order Alien Separation from all of these bookstores STILL. You can also order from them and get Alien Separation and any other book of mine signed and personalized and shipped to you. So, come see the me at:

Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy 22nd Birthday Bash, Saturday May 9th from 11am-5pm. I'll be on at 2pm, which is right after the cake! Food With Fans will happen immediately after the party is over.

Barnes and Noble Henderson, with the Amazing Wyked Writers, Sunday, May 17th from 1pm-4pm. Come hear six cool authors -- moi, T.L. Smith, Sharon Skinner, Alan Black, Marsheila Rockwell, and Jeffrey Mariotte -- talk about all things writing and get a whole lot of books signed! Food With Fans will happen immediately after the party is over.

Phoenix Comicon, Thursday, May 28th through Sunday, May 31st. I'll be in Author's Alley, the AWW Tables are #s 17115, 17117, and 17119. There will be a cool basket of goodies some lucky winner will walk away with! Food With Fans will be on Friday evening, May 29th, and the Evening Erotica event will be on Saturday evening. I'll also be at the Steampunk Tea Room and on panels. My full schedule (ever changing as the con gets closer) and every other author's attending is on the Authors Page at the con site.

The Poisoned Pen Bookstore, End of Tour Party, Monday June 8th, 7pm-8pm. This is the one for everyone, because even if you can't come in person (and will therefore miss many prizes and lots of goodies) you can attend simultaneously via the LiveStream event. All LiveStream attendees will also get a chance to win a prize! (There will be no Food With Fans event after this, but we've made up for it with goodies at the event.)

And now, let's check out some reviews of Alien Separation, just to get you all ready for tomorrow's release day! See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig, Tome Tender, Bibliognome, and boeklogboek thought of it. Warning: the boeklogboek review has some early-in-the-book spoilers in it. Then check out Bibliognome's favorite lines from the book (spoilers are hidden).

Then see what Rich's Random Book Blog thought of Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets. And if you need more reading ideas, see what Science Fiction by Mr. Valentine has listed coming out this month. And Penguin Random House has the info up for Alien in Chief! No, no cover yet -- I just gave Dan some details last week so it'll be a while before that cover gets to premiere (though it's never too early to pre-order, hint hint, ;-D).

After that, head over to Slice of SciFi and see what I thought of The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

And now for some science! First up, stay at Slice of SciFi because T.L. Smith has asked five friends, including moi, about FTL travel. After you see what we all have to say about it, check out Raw Story where NASA talks about their latest warp drive tests!

And now, what you've all been waiting for. That's right, it's giveaway time! And for longtime Hook Me Up! subscribers, we're trying things a little differently this time. (Oooh, the excitement!) There are two contests, one for Hook Me Up! subscribers only, and one here at the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog. The one for Hook Me Up! subscribers only is for signed copies of Alien Separation. The one here (below the signature line) is for a signed copy of any one of the first ten books in the Alien series. Yes, Hook Me Up! subscribers can enter both contests, but if you're not on, you can only enter here at the Blog. So, if you're not on Hook Me Up! now might be the time to get in gear and send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line. You'll get in with the in-crowd and have the Alien Separation contest link sent to you.

Both contests are open internationally, both have multiple ways for you to get extra entries, and both will run from today through Friday, May 22nd. So get those entries going and good luck to everyone!

That's it for today, and while more's on the way, it's unlikely that I'm going to have much time this month to do updates (other than on Facebook and Twitter and occasionally Pinterest). So, let's be winning, Alien Separation reading, signing and con attending readers out there. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Tour the Universe

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great week and a wonderful weekend. I had a fantastic time in Los Angeles for the A Darke Phantastique mass signing. Check out the recap from author E.E. King for deets.

I got to celebrate a fun, fast in-and-out trip to SoCal by being back home to see the Cardinals beat the Rams (yes, I'm a football fan, but, seeing as I'm a Cardinals fan, I tend to fly under the radar...but this year, wowza!) live and in person. But there's lots going on, and lots to come in the next few weeks, so let's get to it all, shall we? We shall!

First up, the Universal Alien Top 10 Blog Tour begins today! Head on over to Pearls Cast Before a McPig to see what Jeff & Kitty's Top 10 Vacation Spots are AND get entered to win one of the first 9 books, signed and personalized! Contest open through Nov. 28th.

The rest of the stops are:
11-11 Larissa's Bookish Life
11-11 Feeling Fictional
11-12 Gizmo's Reviews
11-13 A Buckeye Girl Reads
11-13 Bibliognome
11-14 boeklogboek
11-17 Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell
11-18 I Smell Sheep
11-19 Lu's Buchgefluster
11-20 Under the Covers
12-01 Books-n-Kisses
12-02 Smart Girls Love Sci Fi

Every stop has either a new Top 10 List or an interview, and every stop has prizes to be won, so make sure you hit 'em all! And remember to do your girl a solid and pre-order Universal Alien online or from your favorite bookstore, including any bookstore where I'm making a Book Tour stop.

And don't stop there! See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig thought of Universal Alien. Then, check out Bibliognome's Pre Review Ravings and Favorite Quotes/Lines are from Universal Alien.

Next up, see what Books-N-Kisses thought of Alien Research, and what Feeling Fictional thought of Unidentified Funny Objects 3.

Then see which Top 5 Characters Larissa's Bookish Life would like to hang out with!

See any movies last weekend? If you missed Big Hero 6, check out my review at Slice of SciFi to see if you should see it or not. (Spoiler: you should see it.) Agree? Disagree? Join the discussion over at Slice!

Amazingly enough, that's it for today, but based on the fact that the Top 10 Blog Tour is large and in charge, expect to hear from me a lot in the upcoming days. So get ready to start the latest rounds of winning, and let's be readers out there!

Gini

Collectively Yapping on a Friday

Happy Friday! Well, it's been a busy week, hasn't it? Hope that all y'all had a wonderful week, both in the blogosphere and elsewhere, and that you all have fantastic weekends planned.

But before we get there, we have another stop on the Alien Collective Blog Tour! Head over to Pearls Cast Before a McPig where you can find the latest interview with moi (and, amazingly enough, everyone asked different questions, so if you want an insight into my, and Kitty's, process, check out all the stops along the way!), Sullivan McPig's review of Alien Collective, and another chance to win a signed, personalized copy of your choice of Books 1-8 in the Alien series. Open internationally, ends May 25.

And don't forget about the other stops that have come before! Most have interviews and/or reviews and all have chances to win. And all are open internationally. So if you've missed a stop that's still open, rectify!

-- A Buckeye Girl Reads, ends May 12
-- Under the Covers, ends May 13
-- boeklogboek, ends May 14
-- I Smell Sheep, ends May 15
-- Bibliognome, ends May 15
-- Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, ends May 18
-- Pearls Cast Before a McPig, ends May 25
-- Gizmo's Reviews

Speaking of rectification, here's a special prize available, at every stop on the Tour but it's for my Hook Me Up! Subscribers only. Not on? Perhaps now's the time to rectify that mistake. Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and you'll be in and sent the special instructions!

Next up, check out what Gizmo's Reviews thought of Alien Collective.

Now it's time to remind you that I'll be in SoCal for the next stops on my mini book tour. So, if you're in or around San Diego come see the me and get your signed copies of Alien Collective and all the other bookie wookies at Mysterious Galaxy San Diego, on Saturday, May 10, from 10am-5pm, I'll be speaking and signing from 1-2pm, but will be around all day.

Your other option is in the South Bay, where you can come see the me at Mysterious Galaxy Redondo Beach, from 7:30-8:30pm on Monday, May 12.

A good time shall be had by all at each location, so don't miss out!

I'll be relatively quiet next week (don't faint) because of being in SoCal and working on Universal Alien and other things of a writerly and deadliney nature. Therefore, I'm giving you more reminders now. Because that's just the nice kind of girl I am.

The May issue of Penumbra eMagazine is out and you want it, so you, too, can read the first Alien Series short available, "Alien on the Runway". The other stories in this issue are da bomb, as well. And, if you want to keep up and get the rest of the Alien series shorts I'll have in Penumbra later this year, get a subscription! If you use 2014Gini when you order, you'll get the subscription for half price AND get the Best Of issues for 2012 and 2013, too! Offer ends August 1, and the May issue is available right now, so don't wait, get your deal, and your monthly great reading, going today!

Have you checked out and bid on the many excellent offerings at the Brenda Novak auction? Check out my fantastic Alien Pack -- and bid early and often!

Last but in no way least, Touched by an Alien is out in audiobook form. If you haven't scored your copy yet, now's a great time. They do make lovely Mother's Day gifts. ;-D Get your copies today, from Audible, Amazon, Tantor Audio, and other fine retailers all over.

That's it for this week, but as always, more's on the way. So, enjoy the slide into the weekend, see some of you in San Diego and others of you in Redondo Beach, and still others of you in other places. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Collective Partying

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a wonderful week, Happy Belated Passover to all those who celebrated, and I hope those who had good weather (like we did) got to see the Blood Moon. I know -- last week, I'm all over the place and this week...silence. Hey, I've been busy, what can I say? (Taking crappy pics of the Blood Moon with my phone took EFFORT, darn it!) But, while I've been busy, lots has been going on, so let's get to it, shall we? We shall!

First up, we have the next early reviews of Alien Collective! See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig and Larissa's Bookish Life thought of it. Then see what Sporadic Reads thought of Touched by an Alien. And last but in no way least, see what The Nameless Zine thought of The Night Beat. Then head back over to Larissa's Bookish Life see which books always make her laugh out loud.

May's going to be a busy month. Have I mentioned that I'll be having an early release party for Alien Collective at The Poisoned Pen  on Saturday, May 3rd? I have? Have I mentioned that it's a rare occurrence? Or that the Pen had to get Special Dispensation from Penguin to do this AND that any copies of Alien Collective not sold on May 3rd have to go back in their boxes to wait for Tuesday, May 6th? So it's extremely special. And have I perhaps mentioned that they ship all over including internationally meaning that you can get a signed, personalized book regardless of where you happen to live?

How about this? Have I mentioned that it's gonna be a PARTY, and that I'm going to be giving out prizes? Well it is and I am. So, let's make all the maneuvering and begging the Pen had to go through worth it and pack the house! Party is from 2:00-3:00pm. Come a little early to see what the prizes will be, and stay a little late to hang out.

Have you ordered your year's subscription of Penumbra eZine yet? If not, what are you waiting for? In addition to a whole magazine of great fiction, May's issue brings the short story all y'all have been waiting for -- how Reader met Gower. "Alien on the Runway" is coming in May, but it will only be the first of three Alien series shorts that will be in Penumbra this year.

The magazine sells for $3.99 an issue, but right now, you can get The Gini Special -- instead of paying $3.99 an issue, you'll get a year's subscription for just $24.00; that's half price. But there's more! You'll also get the Best of Penumbra 2012 AND 2013. That's a full year's subscription for half price plus two free Best Of collections and three Alien series shorts that will only be available in Penumbra...as long as you use this coupon code (exactly as shown here) when you order: 2014Gini  This offer is good only through August 1, 2014, so don't miss out and get your subscription going today!

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. Enjoy the weekend, wishing a very Happy Easter to all those who celebrate, and let's be chocolate bunny eating readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side.

Love,
Gini

Happy Friday, Happy Holidays

Happy Friday! No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Got sick the moment my mini book tour ended and have still been writing like a crazed wolverine on Alien Collective. But there's been so much going on that I need to catch all y'all up now or else the next HMU! will be about as long as one of my novels. So let's get to it!

First up, In Media Res is doing a great Holidays giveaway, and this week includes books from moi. If you're in the US you can win a signed copy of Alien in the Family, if you're International you can win an ecopy of The Night Beat. So check it out, and don't miss out! The contest has been running all month, with new authors announced each Friday, and will also run next week as well.

Next up, more reviews are in for Alien Research. See why RT Book Reviews gave it a top pick, and see what boeklogboek, Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, I Smell Sheep, and Pearls Cast Before a McPig thought of it as well. And, OMG, Alien Research hit #35 on the Barnes & Noble bestseller list in its first week of release! THANKS to all of you who helped make that happen!

Next, next up, this is a little behind, but better late than never. Check out the recent releases listings from DAW Books and Adventures in SciFi Publising.

Did you miss seeing the me at Mysterious Galaxy San Diego, Mysterious Galaxy Redondo Beach, or The Poisoned Pen? No worries. The Pen did a last minute LiveStream so you can see that interview now. And in the Adventure Time! episode of More Geek Than Gay, my wonderful PA Joseph fills you in on all you missed out in on our SoCal trip.

Speaking of Alien Research (have I stopped once yet?) see what Bibliognome chose as her favorite lines from the book. Then check out what Bibliognome and Larissa's Bookish Life think are the top 5 covers for 2013.

Head over to see some great examples of awesome artist Dan Dos Santos' cover work at Through a Shattered Lens. Then see what my BFF Marsheila Rockwell has to say about the passing of an actor that mattered to both of us, and also what she has going on. Hint: It has something to do with DarkCon, and it's not too late for you to register and join us to kick of the new year in a really fun and wild fashion!

Speaking of cons -- I was hoping to make it, but sadly, I've had to pull out of 2014's RT Booklovers convention. SO, right now, your only chance to see the me on the East Coast will be in February, at Coastal Magic so make your plans to get away to the beach and hang out with moi and a whole lot of other cool authors in a smaller, and more relaxed, setting.

Last but not least, DAW Books, Inc., the unofficial blog of DAW Books, is discussing Alien Research. Head over and give your opinion!

Whew, that's it for today! But as always, more's on the way. But, barring major announcements, probably not much for the rest of the year. I need to get Alien Collective wrapped up in a big bow and sent to the awesome editor, and, like the rest of us, I want to focus some time on my family.

My wish for all of you is the happiest and healthiest of holidays and end of year times, and a wonderful and prosperous 2014. You're the best fans in the world and I love each and every one of you -- you're the best gifts an author could get, and I'm grateful for all y'all each and every day.

So enjoy the weekend, the various holidays for those who are celebrating and those who are just watching, those working the holidays be sure to take time for yourselves as well and know that the rest of us appreciate your time, effort, and sacrifice, and let's all be readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

First up, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, the yap is large and in charge over at Pearls Cast Before a McPig, where there's not only an interview with moi, but also two chances to win a copy of either Alien Proliferation, Alien Diplomacy, or Alien vs. Alien. Be sure to leave a comment at the blog to get entered for the second contest!

And that's not all. Hit Between Dreams and Reality to see what she thought of Alien Tango AND to get entered to win either Touched by an Alien, Alien Tango, or Alien in the Family. And if you'd like, check out her review in French.

Speaking of reviews, head over and see what Bitten By Books thought of Alien vs. Alien and Alien in the House.

Have you backed the Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters Kickstarter yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Lots of great horror authors, including moi writing as J.C. Koch, will be in this one, and there are fantastic stretch goal prizes as well. And, whether or not you've funded, check out the latest coolness -- Kaiju Plushies! AND there's a Backer Badge on the same page -- we just keep on with the giving! If you've already pledged, don't worry, it's simple to add on "Cookie Monster". If you haven't, well, don't delay, fund today! Godzilla, Cookie Monster, and their cronies say it's the right thing to do!

In Person Stuff & Upcoming Events:
For all Central and Northern Arizona peeps, I'll be presenting Writing from the Hindbrain and Archetypes, Stereotypes & Cliches at the NARWA meeting on this Saturday, September 21, from 11am-2pm, at the Prescott Golf & Country Club, 1030 Prescott Country Club Blvd., Dewey, AZ 86327.

Free Fall Writers Workshop, Saturday, November 9th, from 9:30-4:30

Come hear a dozen successful, published authors, including moi, talk about the how-tos and the why-tos of writing. I'll be presenting Finding Your Voice, and also be part of the What Does it Take to Get Happily Published Today? panel. This is a must attend for all aspiring authors and readers who just want to know more about the process and the business...and, seriously, while we could easily charge hundreds of dollars for this event and it would be more than worth it, we mean it when we say that it's FREE. At the Scottsdale Civic Center Library, Scottsdale, AZ.

Mysterious Galaxy Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event in San Diego
I'll be running the yap and signing Alien Research at the annual Mysterious Galaxy San Diego Holiday Party on Saturday, December 7th, from 3pm-6pm.

Mysterious Galaxy Holiday Event in Redondo Beach
I'll be running the yap and signing Alien Research at the Mysterious Galaxy Redondo Beach Holiday Party on Sunday, December 8th, from 3pm-5pm. (First ever RB appearance, btw, so don't miss it!)

I'll be the Local Author Guest of Honor at DarkCon, in Phoenix, AZ, January 9-12, 2014. Don't miss out on my first real official and not last minute Guest of Honor stint. There are a few more VIP tickets left, and there's going to be a whole Mini Gini Con at this event, so, truly, don't miss this one!

I'll be one of the authors at Coastal Magic, in Daytona Beach, FL, February 6-9, 2014. This will be one of my only, if not THE only, southern & east coast appearances in 2014, so don't miss the chance to come see the me, along with a TROVE of other awesome paranormal and urban fantasy authors.

I have another January announcement coming up in the near future, and many more appearances in 2014, but for now, that's it for today 'cause, well, I have all that writing to get back to. But, in addition to that other announcement, as always, there's more on the way. So, enjoy the week ahead and let's be readers out there. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Winning Catch Up

Happy Hump Day! I know, I know, it's like I've fallen off the face of the Earth. That's what deadlines do, gang, and yes, I'm still on deadline for Alien Research. But, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, there's so much going on, including the announcement of the winners of the Advanced Final Copies of Alien in the House, that I just had to stop and catch everyone up. So let's get to it!

First up, my April column for It's Comic Book Day! is live, so check it out and see what I do, and don't, recommend this month.

After that, head over to Medusa's Library where she's discussing gateway drugs -- for science fiction, that is.

Then check out what Gizmo's Reviews and Bibliognome are excited about. And check out Bibliognome's Bon Jovi Concert photos while you're there!

Speaking of excited, check out what Pearls Cast Before a McPig thought of Alien in the House. Then see what Silk Screen Views thought of Touched by an Alien and Alien Tango.

I'll be visiting the Goodreads group Girls, Guns and Grimoires later this month to yap about the Alien series, so if you want to join in, join the group!

Speaking of my running around and running the yap, it's time for another roundup of In Person Events -- where you get to come see the me and have a good time while doing so!

Short Story Workshop -- I'll be teaching how to write short stories, and why that can be both harder and easier than novels, Saturday, May 4, 2013, 11:00am-3:30pm, Queen Creek Library, Queen Creek, AZ. Space is limited, so reserve your seat today!

Book Signing -- for Alien in the House, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 7:00pm-8:30pm, The Poisoned Pen, Scottsdale, AZ. This is my only signing event in Arizona before Phoenix Comicon, so don't miss out!

Mysterious Galaxy 20th Birthday Bash -- signing Alien in the House and eating cake all day, Saturday, May 11, 2013, 10:00am-5:00pm; I'm in the featured Arizona Authors Spotlight with awesome authors Jeff Marriotte and Marsheila Rockwell from 11:00am-12:00pm, San Diego, CA. This is my only Southern California signing before San Diego Comic-Con, so don't miss out!

Phoenix Comicon -- May 23 to May 26

Arizona Dreamin' -- May 31 to June 2

San Diego Comic-Con -- July 17 to July 21

DarkCon 2014 -- January 9 - January 12, 2014, I'm the Local Guest of Honor and DarkCon is hosting GiniKon on Sunday the 12th;  hotel reservations are now open! Get registered today, this event's gonna be huge!

I know you're all wondering who won the latest contest. And the time to find that out is now! So, without further ado, here are the lucky winners of an advanced final copy of Alien in the House:

--Marlise Perkins
--Bananas in the Void
--Clara Miller
--Silk Screen Views
--Ratkin

Special Mention Winner, who also gets an advanced copy of Alien in the House, chosen because she supported my "not awarding for grossest story" statement (hey, I'm capricious that way): Write With Butterfly Wings

NOTE TO THE WINNERS: You have until Sunday, April 21st, to send me an email with your name, complete mailing address, and any requested personalization -- any prize not claimed by then will be pulled back by the Gods of Random and a new winner(s) will be chosen.

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. More of me furiously writing Alien Research, true, but more of other things, too. So, enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend and let's be readers out there! Peace out, my li'l ganstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Alien vs. Thursday

Happy Thursday! Hope everyone's having a great week. I know I am, what with the release of Alien vs. Alien, and so many of you letting me know you're enjoying it. (No, trust me, that never gets old.)

The signing at the Poisoned Pen was great, and thanks to so many Alien Collective Members in Very Good Standing who came out to listen to me run the yap (waves madly to Dee, Hal, Stacy, Tyler, Linda, Rob, Lee, and Mary, who came out all the way from Chicago) along with everyone else. And thanks to all who were watching live via LiveStream. Did you miss either the live or the webstream event? Not to worry! You can watch it at LiveStream right now! (See how good we are to you? I know, I know, we give and give, don't we?) Don't miss whatever brilliance and information I shared (no, I don't remember what I said now, so it's all new for everyone).

Want another chance to see the me in person? No worries, it's coming up on Friday, December 14th. I'll be at Barnes & Noble Desert Ridge from 7-8:30pm, so come for the next Alien vs. Alien release month extravaganza and get your bookie wookies signed!

Speaking of which, check out what Pearls Cast Before a McPig and Readaholics Anonymous thought of Alien vs. Alien. Then see all the awesome books released from DAW this week over at DAW Books Inc.

Then check out The Next Big Thing over at my BFF Marsheila Rockwell's page They're Biodegradeable. She's tagged me on this thing, too, so read Marcy's info on her upcoming titles, and then look for mine talking about Alien in the House, most likely, coming, um, probably tomorrow. (But could be next week, seeing as it's me.)

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Thanksgiving Time

Happy (very late) Hump Day. But let's just call it Happy Early Thanksgiving! No? Well, blame the late on my email client which really didn't want to work today. But I couldn't let the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving (or a Happy Rest of the Week and Weekend if you don't indulge) pass.

And, because I probably won't be checking in again before next week (and not because of Black Friday shopping -- but because Alien in the House is still not done), let's get caught up on what's going on before we all feast and shop, shall we?

First off, I have exciting news to share, that many of you may already know. Alien Proliferation has made it into the final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards! It's still up against really strong competition, so every vote is needed -- and appreciated!

After voting, head over to see what Pearls Cast Before a McPig thought of The Night Beat. Then catch the yap on the run over at The Nameless Zine and learn yet more secrets about moi. Last but in no way least, see what Larissa's Bookish Life thinks are the top 5 book series with the best covers.

And, for those who need new reads before they get their hands on Alien vs. Alien (coming December 4th, and it's still not too late to pre-order!), I have two new releases for you, just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. A Cup of Joe, a dystopian/utopian SF Romance novella by Anita Ensal, and Amazing & Waiting: Two Novelettes, one dark SF, one dark Fantasy, by Jemma Chase. Both are available in all eformats from Amazon, Smashwords, and B&N.com.

In Person Reminders: I'll be hitting a few key, awesome bookstores in the first half of December and would love to see as many of you there as can make it:

Saturday, Dec. 1 -- Eat! Read! Party! Holiday Event, Mysterious Galaxy, San Diego, CA, 3:00-5:30pm

Tuesday, Dec. 4 -- Alien vs. Alien Release Party, The Poisoned Pen live and in person and simulcast live webcast via LiveStream as well, Scottsdale, AZ, 7:00-8:30pm

Friday, Dec. 14 -- Signing Alien vs. Alien, Barnes & Noble Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, AZ, 7:00-8:30pm

Mysterious Galaxy and the Poisoned Pen both are happy to take orders for books to be signed at their events and then shipped out. And yes, those can be personalized. Both bookstores also carry The Night Beat, should you want to get your hands on a signed copy of that while getting your hands on a signed copy of Alien vs. Alien, or any other bookie wookie.

Well, that's it for today. For those who celebrate, have yourselves a wonderful day of feasting and fun. For those who don't, have yourselves a wonderful day of fun and eating properly. For those shopping 'til you're dropping, remember to buy books. And let's all be readers out there!

As for what I'm thankful for -- a wonderful husband, a fantastic daughter, great friends, and a career I adore. But most of all, I'm thankful for all of you. So take care of your bad selves and peace out, my li'l gangstas -- I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Aliens vs. Sandy

Happy Day After Tomorrow, Everyone!

First off, hoping that all Members in Very Good Standing of the Alien Collective and their families and friends weathered, and will weather, the Tropical Cyclone Formerly Known as Hurricane Sandy and her BFFs Frankenstorm and Bride of Frankenstorm. Let us know you're okay, you know how we worry. (We worry a LOT.) And thanks to Twitter, where the news came first, fastest, and despite some fake pics, accurately.

For those of you with power and the urge for distraction, fun, games, and voting (not that kind of voting), there's a lot going on, and I was gonna wait until tomorrow but there's just too much, too much I say! So we're going to get to some of it today.

I mentioned voting. Yes, yes, everyone who's registered should vote in the upcoming elections, for whoever you like or dislike the least, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm thrilled to announce that Alien Proliferation has been nominated in the Science Fiction category for the Goodreads Choice Awards! It's got some stiff competition, so any votes given will be greatly appreciated!

After you cast your votes, head over to Pearls Cast Before a McPig and get a teaser from Alien vs. Alien. Then see what ALPHA Reader and boeklogboek thought of Alien vs. Alien. Rumor also has it (with many thanks to Alert Member of the Alien Collective Lori W.) that RT Book Reviews has given Alien vs. Alien 4.5 stars and named it a Top Pick! Only those with physical copies of the magazine can confirm this rumor, but Mr. Joel Oliver says it's true.

But wait, there's more! See what DAW Books Review thought of Alien Proliferation (ooh look, a tie-in to the voting part...and it wasn't even planned!). Then check out what Fantasy Book Reviews and Nocturnal Book Reviews thought of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate, by G.J. Koch (yes, that's moi).

Then head over to Midnyte Reader and see what My 5 Monkeys says Halloween is to her.

In Person Reminder: I'll be one of the 13 multi-published authors speaking on various aspects of writing and the publishing business at the 7th Annual Free Fall Writer's Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 10th, in Scottsdale, AZ. The program runs from 9:30-4:30 and is always a fabulous, learning-filled day well spent. And yes, despite us having NYT Bestselling authors and all sorts of other bestselling authors there, it's really and truly FREE. Such a deal. Hope to see a lot of you there, too!

That's it for today, but more's on the way. So sit tight, everyone stay safe (we really do worry a lot), and let's be readers, even if we must be readers by candlelight, out there!

Love,
Gini

Haunted Monday

Happy Monday! This is coming out a little late, but that's because I'm still recovering from my weekend of BEING HAUNTED -- for reals -- at the Hotel Gadsden in Douglas, AZ. The Authors and Artists Centennial event was great, and I'll be filling you all in later this week on Gini Gets a Ghost Story, but there's a lot going on today, so let's belay my scary weekend and get right to it.

First up, as promised, yes indeed, the Alien vs. Alien ARC Contest will be starting later today. As always, it's for Hook Me Up! only. Not on Hook Me Up! yet? Rectify now! Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and you'll be in with the in crowd and able to get in on the winning!

Next up, just got confirmation that I'll be at the Mysterious Galaxy Holiday Party in San Diego on December 1, 2012. And that means, if you come to see the me, you can get Alien vs. Alien 4 days before it officially releases. I know! It's too happy to be true! But it is, so see you there!

Now, let's check out some reviews. See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig and Mixed Book Bag thought of Three Card Monte. Then see what At Random thought of Touched by an Alien. Then see which authors or series make Larissa's Bookish Life forget about or ignore her TBR pile.

That's it for today. Well, you know, other than the Alien vs. Alien ARC Contest. Starting...soon, very, very soon...

Love,
Gini

Psst...Release Day

Happy Friday! Yeah, I know, I know. Yesterday I said I wouldn't be yapping at you until next week. But...um...I sort of forgot...a couple things. *cough* Hey! I was busy! Working on Alien in the House and all that! *ahem* Anyway...

Today is the release day for The Martian Alliance #2: Three Card Monte! (Yes, that's right...I forgot about my own release day. I mentioned I was busy and writing and all, right?)

And, in honor OF said release, there are interviews with moi over at Pearls Cast Before a McPig and A Buckeye Girl Reads.

VVB Reads would like to remind you that her contest stop on the Necropolis Blog Tour ends today, so enter today to win a copy of The Night Beat! And speaking of winning, you have until the end of Sunday, October 7, to enter to win the huge Grand Prize prize pack (which includes an ARC of Alien vs. Alien) right here at the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog -- click this Prize Post link or scroll down a bit.

Okay, that's really it for this week (well, other than reminding you that I'll be in Sedona, AZ tomorrow, doing a workshop and book signing at The Well Red Coyote -- but you already knew that, right?), so have FAB weekends, and I'll really catch you on the real flip side this time! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Gnomish Thursday

It's a short and sweet one for you today. I know, sometimes I toss a short one out there to keep all y'all guessing. (And sometimes it's because I'm in the middle of doing galley edits on Alien vs. Alien and I know what you'd all rather I focused on.)

So, head out to Bibliognome, the next stop on the Necropolis Blog tour, check out the latest excerpt, and get entered to win -- contest ends Sept. 19. Yes indeed, you get yet ANOTHER chance to win a copy of The Night Beat. Is there no end to our generosity? As I look at the list of blog stops, where you can win a copy of the bookie wookie at each stop, I conclude: No.

Remember to hit all the prior stops as well. If you hit them all, and in order, you'll have read the first 10 chapters of The Night Beat. Pretty sweet, huh? It's like I can't stop giving.

So, visit and enter at: Stop 1/Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, contest ends Sept. 27; Stop 2/My 5 Monkeys; Stop 3/I Smell Sheep, contest ends Sept. 28; Stop 4/boeklogboek, contest ends Sept. 20; Stop 5/Ex Libris, contest ends Sept. 21; and Stop 6/Pearls Cast Before a McPig, contest ends Sept. 29.

That's it for today, but more's just around the corner. So enjoy the blog hopping, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Lovecraft Humping

I know that made you look...

Happy Hump Day! Well, we're at the midpoint of the week and get to enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend. But the Necropolis Blog Tour isn't slowing down in any way, shape, or form.

Head over to Pearls Cast Before a McPig to get not only the next excerpt and yet ANOTHER chance to win a copy of The Night Beat -- contest ends Sept. 29 -- but also to read my guest post about H.P. Lovecraft and why I think he's dreamy.

And, remember to hit the prior stops on the tour. If you hit them all, and in order, you'll have read the first 10 chapters of The Night Beat. Pretty sweet, huh? You can also get entered to win a copy of the bookie wookie at every stop. That's not one book total, that's one book PER BLOG. I know what you're thinking -- Gini is the soul of generosity! Yes, it's true, spoken modestly, God love me.

So, visit and enter at: Stop 1/Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, contest ends Sept. 27; Stop 2/My 5 Monkeys, CONTEST EXTENDED TO Sept. 20*; Stop 3/I Smell Sheep, contest ends Sept. 28; Stop 4/boeklogboek, contest ends Sept. 20; and Stop 5/Ex Libris, contest ends Sept. 21.

After all that touring of the blogosphere, head over to Portland Book Review and see what they thought of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate, by G.J. Koch (yes, that's moi).

Speaking of Alexander Outland, I have some exciting news to share. *drum roll, please* As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know... Alexander Outland: Space Pirate will soon be available in audio format! Yes! I just spoke with the voice artist yesterday (and he's so GOOOOOOD) and he'll be recording soon (as in, this week soon). The moment I know when the audio version will be available you, of course, will be the first to know. This is my first audio book, ever, so I'm super thrilled and can't wait to hear the finished product.

Well, that's it for today, but more's coming tomorrow. So have a great one, keep your eye on the weekend, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Just Another Winning Release Day

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a fab weekend and is ready for a great week ahead. I myself saw Magic Mike with the chicklet, and we both agreed Rock of Ages was better, probably showed as much skin, and was a much more fun experience. (It's true -- they had the nerve to give Magic Mike a PLOT and it was a DOWNER plot, at that. Oh, the humanity.) But enough of my cinematic disappointments (particularly the disappointment of not nearly enough screen time for Matt "James Reader" Bomer, which was the biggest travesty of all in regards to Morose Mike) because there's a lot going on. So let's get to it!

First off, as I mentioned last week and the subject line reiterates, the first book in my new Necropolis Enforcement Files series, The Night Beat, officially releases today. And while I want you all to rush right out and get your copies -- at Amazon, B&N.com, or Smashwords -- there's a Hook Me Up! exclusive contest going on right now. Of course, if you're not on Hook Me Up! you can't enter. So fix that problem and send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and get in with the winning in crowd.

Want a little info about The Night Beat? Check out the alert at Pearls Cast Before a McPig.

But, there are other releases this week, and therefore MORE ways to win! Yes, it's true! My BFF Marsheila Rockwell's next awesome book, Skein of Shadows, releases tomorrow, July 3. And, to celebrate, Marcy and I are doing a double Kick-Ass Heroines giveaway. You can win a copy of her book AND my book, and you'll get chances to win both at both of our sites. So, head over to They're Biodegradeable and get entered to win for the first half of this giveaway.

Also, during this month, you'll get to hear from me and Marcy about what it's like "behind the scenes" when we're at cons. Or, rather, you'll hear from Margi Kochwell, who'll tell it like it REALLY is.

Next up, a Member of the Alien Collective in Very Good Standing has just launched a blog, so head over to Bama's Book Ramblings and give her blog some brand new love.

Speaking of families that get created, see which fictional families Larissa's Bookish Life thinks are tops.

In Person Reminder -- I'll be at San Diego Comic-Con from July 11-15. Look for the gal in the pink, sparkly cowgirl hat. But find me specifically at these events:
Guerrilla Marketing Panel, 8pm Saturday, July 14, Room 9
Stunted Fools and Scary-Ass Clowns Panel, 10am, July 15, Room 25ABC
Book Signing, 11:30am-12:30pm, July 15, Autograph Area, Table AA04

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So have a wonderful week, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Let's Yap Outland

Hope everyone's having a great week so far. We have more fun for you today, so let's get to it! First off, head over to the always fun and entertaining Pearls Cast Before a McPig and check out the first-ever interview with G.J. Koch (yes, moi, but still, it's the first AS G.J. Koch, so, you know, go with it) talking about Alexander Outland: Space Pirate. And pigs. Because we can.

Speaking of Alexander Outland, we're in the last days to get 50% off on every book at Night Shade Books, including pre-orders. Get your book on, buy or pre-order at least 4 books, get 'em for the price of 2. Such a deal! After you've scored great books for half price, remember to check out my guest blog over at The Night Bazaar.

Next up, the Bitten By Books Alien Diplomacy Launch Party is still going for one more day (today) so you still have time to get entered to win a 10-Book pack from Penguin, plus 2 other chances to win books from me. While you're there, see what Bitten By Books has to say about Alien Diplomacy. Then, get over to the DAW Books Community and add your $0.02 into the discussion of Alien Diplomacy. Make it All Alien Diplomacy All The Time, at least for a few minutes.

In Person Reminder: I'll be at the Desert Dreams Writers' Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, April 27-29. There is an Open To The Public Mass Book Signing on Saturday, April 28, from 5:30-7:00pm. So whether you're attending the con or not, come on by, get your bookie wookies signed, and check out the TON of authors who'll be there signing in addition to me, myself and I -- Erin Quinn, Erin Kellison, Caris Roane, Amber Scott, Kathryne Kennedy, Bob Mayer, Brenda Novak, Tara Taylor Quinn, Vicki Lewis Thompson, and MORE!

That's it for today, but don't worry, more's coming. Have a great time, and let's remember to be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Outlandish Thursday

Well, as you all know, I'm heading to the Jambalaya Writers' Conference tomorrow. (For those keeping score at home: Of course I'm not packed yet.) But before I go, there's much going on, so let's get all y'all caught up!

First off, head over to my Ta-Daaa! page and check out the full preliminary final cover of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by G.J. Koch (yes, that's moi), coming June 5th from Night Shade Books. It's the full cover, so the back cover blurb is on there, too!

After checking that out, let's check out some reviews. See what Pearls Cast Before a McPig and My 5 Monkeys thought of Alien Diplomacy. Then, for those who speak or read French, check out what Bananas in the Void thought of Touched by an Alien.

Fiction Affliction at Tor.Com and Anna's Book Blog both have good lists of April's releases. And don't miss finding out what Larissa's Bookish Life chose as the Top 5 Book Covers so far of 2012.

By the way and in case you didn't know, Alien Diplomacy releases this coming Tuesday, April 3. However, I'm getting the good word that there are some bookstores that already have it on the shelves, so feel free to race out and see if your bookstore is one of them!

That's it for today. Must get packed (and *cough* finish Alien vs. Alien). Will see some of you in Louisiana (can't wait!) and will catch all of you on the flip side. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and let's be readers out there!

Love,
Gini

Winning for the New Year

Hope everyone had lovely and wonderful holidays. Can't believe this will be my last blog of 2011, but it will be. But, even though it's the last, it's not the least -- there's lots going on, so let's get to it!

First off, head over to Pearls Cast Before a McPig, where highlights for 2011 are being reviewed, there's a short Q&A with moi (with never before asked questions!), and a chance to win "Alien Tango". Then see what Book Girl of Mur-Y-Castell thought were the best books of 2011, too.

Now, it's reviews time. See what Readaholics Anonymous thought of "Touched by an Alien" and "Alien Tango". Then see what Giraffe Days and Dirty Lab Coat thought of "Alien in the Family". After that, check out reviews from My Para-Hangover, Bob's Beach Books, and Freak Search for "Alien Proliferation".

Phoenix Comicon is looking for volunteers -- if you're local or coming in for the event, check out the options. Volunteering is fun and you get "backstage" much more than regular attendees.

Now, what you've been waiting for -- the Gods of Random have finally spoken. (Hey, the Gods were busy helping me work on my galley edits for "Alien Diplomacy"...so I'm sure you forgive them ;-D)

So, without further ado, here are our lucky winners for the Hook Me Up! only Combo-Con Contest! (Yeah, they all said it three times fast, baby!)

Prize Pack 1 - Hardback Heaven
Becky Boyer

Prize Pack 2 - The Hard Stuff
Erin Fender

Prize Pack 3 - Trade-Ins
Pamela Josephian

Prize Pack 4 - Massive Wonders
Pam Kinsey

Prize Pack 5 - Giant Wall Hangings
Stella Balogh

Prize Pack 6 - Pretty Pictures A
Kelly Mueller

Prize Pack 7 - Pretty Pictures B
Beth Blanchard

Prize Pack 8 - Pretty Pictures C
Matt Crowe

Prize Pack 9 - Hodgepodge
Debbie Forde

Prize Pack 10 - Massive Blood
Cristina Olguin

There was SO much stuff that after divvying it all up, there's just enough for a couple of extra smaller packs. And why keep them for "later" when giving them out now makes so much more sense?

SURPRISE Prize Pack A
Marnie Walski

SURPRISE Prize Pack B
Jesse Ivanoff

The Honorable Mentions were REALLY hard to pick this time. Pretty much everyone made me go "awwww" and at least half made me laugh. And while I wish I could send something to all of you, these two managed to edge out the very tough competition.

Honorable Mention 1 - You Slay Me
bejeweledcat

Honorable Mention 2 - You Complete Me
Kathy Miller

Congrats to all the winners, and for those who didn't win this time, never fear...another contest is always right around the corner.

NOTE FOR WINNERS: You MUST send me an email with your full name (first & last), your COMPLETE physical mailing address, and what name you want anything getting personalized made out to, by Friday, Jan. 6th in order to claim your prize. If I don't get this info from you by the 6th, the Gods of Random will take back the prize and demand a new winner.

Lastly but most importantly, I just want to wish all of you a safe, fun and happy New Year's Eve, and a wonderful, prosperous, joyous 2012. I wish for all of you that this new year brings you every happiness and success, because you all deserve that and more. Peace out, my li'l gangstas...I'll catch you on the big flip side!

Love,
Gini

Humping Towards Phoenix Comicon

Happy Hump Day! Well, the Poster Frenzy contest is going strong. It's for Hook Me Up! only, of course, so if you're not on, it's not too late to join the fun and get entered to win! Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and get your win on!

Speaking of winning, there's still time to get entered to win your choice of one of my books and/or a Beastie Poof. Details at I Smell Sheep and Pearls Cast Before a McPig.

We have some great new reviews of "Touched by an Alien", so go check out what On a Book Bender and The Itzel Library thought of it. Then see what On a Book Bender thought of "Alien Tango".

There's new stuff up on the site, including new merchandise (and more coming) at the Alien Collective Depot -- Team Dazzler, you are in the house! Spotlight, Datebook, and Accolades also have new stuff.

We have exciting news to share. Lisa, aka the Head of Team Gini, is pregnant with #3. So, we will have another junior member of Team Gini arriving sometime in January. Just wanted to give my girl her shout out -- Congrats, Babe!

I'm heading to Phoenix Comicon starting tomorrow, so we'll be on the usual radio silence other than Twitter and some Facebook. If you're in the general vicinity of the Greater Phoenix Metro Area, try to stop by. Should be an amazing time, with celebs like Leonard Nimoy, George Takai, Billy Dee Williams (BILLY DEE!), Ernie Hudson, William Atherton, and Stan Lee (STAN LEE!) attending. Oh, yeah, and I'm doing panels and signings and such, too. So, really, it's gonna be huge...come on down!

For those in the Tornado Zone, stay safe, we're all thinking of you. For those who celebrate, Happy Memorial Day. And for everyone, keep it unreal, get down with your bad selves, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini
